Clearly, they are borrowing from Superman III. Lex Luthor got a programmer to create Kryptonite, but it wasn't quite right. This is "Bad" Superman.

Expect there to be a fight between "Bad" Superman and Clark Kent. Thousands will die. But, in the end, Superman will win. So, no biggie.
