‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

Dick move, WB. Literally.
I really don't get why they're establishing that Dick is dead in this universe. They could have just used Jason Todd, who actually did die (well, or so we believed, but comics are dumb sometimes :p) and it would have had the same effect on Bruce, plus leave Dick alive to possibly show up as Nightwing in the future.

The thing seems heavily inspired by Miller's Dark Knight stories, so yeah there's a Robin body count.

I can see where they'd do that as a way of informing where this version of Batman is at in his career.
...that's the name that the general audience is most likely to recognize.

Yeah, that's probably why they decided to go with that one rather than the other. Seems kinda short-sighted to me, but not a big deal in the end.

I would guess we have two options:

1) Dick has died and Bruce went into retirement because of it and is drawn out by the apperance of Superman

I think more likely...

2) Dick died saving someone during the Zod invasion and that is the source of the conflict between them and Bruce comes out of retirement.

Plus there were the rumours(?) about Jenna Malone taking a role in film, which were tied into the Miller take.

The first part of #2 does seem to be one of the big rumors going around right now, not sure about the second half.

Might we expect Carrie Kelly to show up as Robin?

Can anyone make out the dates on that marker? Might confirm or disprove some of the theories I've read.

My reaction to the Batman v. Superman trailer?
Meh.
Literally. Cannot saw I saw anything in there to really impress me or get me excited. Oohhhh. It's dark, gritty, storm clouds, and thunder. Meh. I really wish WB/DC had really done this whole thing right. They didn't have to completely copy the Marvel Method but, damn, they could have done better than this. Man of Steel left me a bit cold, well, indifferent, and can't say this one is getting me going either.
Man! And this could have been some great, great, stuff. But, it all has to be dark and gritty. Superman. SUPERMAN they have to make dark and gritty. (And, yes, the applies to Mos too.)
Not writing it off yet, more than a year away from this movie and I'm going to go see it pretty much no matter what, just right now I'm left cold.

I find it amazing that they've been making this film for what seems like forever yet it comes out the same summer as Captain America: Civil War which hasn't even started filming yet.

What would be the upbeat, happy story where Earth's two greatest heroes beat the living crap out of each other?

Also, if Snyder had followed up MoS with an upbeat movie that glossed over the losses and developments that happened at the end of MoS, people would be pissed about that. The lack of acknowledgement of the massive destruction and loss of life in Metropolis was one of the chief complaints about the prior film, and now it's being addressed, along with mankind's insignificance in a world where literal gods patrol the skies. That's not really upbeat subject matter.
