Wait a second. The season finale is titled, "Venom of the Red Lotus". What if "red" refers to Azula?
Or perhaps they want to send her into some sort of real or spiritual abyss from which she can never return.
The recent episode had the lowest rating of the show so far with 1.08 million viewers.
And the new scheduling will only cause a one-week delay until the finale. If they had stuck with two episodes per week, the season would have ended on August 15th. Now it's ending only a week later on August 22nd.
I've often thought it would be cool to see how a magic-based fantasy universe would work once it got to the space age, as a change from the cliched medieval fantasy setting. Maybe Bryan & Mike will actually give us one someday. How would bending powers work in space? What is space even like in a universe where the Moon is actually a spirit?
It should be noted though that the moon spirit is not the moon itself. Was saw quite readily that the Lal (or the other one who's name I forget) left the spirit realm and took the form of a koi fish.

On the other hand, there is a certain charm to the period settings that I wouldn't necessarily like to lose.
Airbenders would probably hate space.![]()
Did it actually physically disappear or did it go into sudden eclipse? IIRC it was prettty open to interpretation in that regard. Don't get me wrong, there's clearly a physical link there and it may indeed have originated from the spirit world, but I don't think it disappeared so much as went inert. It should be noted though that the moon spirit is not the moon itself. Except the Moon disappeared completely when the koi fish was killed. Which suggests it's not a tangible physical body as we know it, and is some kind of spirit manifestation like the vines in Republic City.
