Why though? The comic is essentially a straight up spy story, and it's working extremely well. I think they could get away with having Black Widow in an action/espionage type story. The whole point of having a variety of titles is to have a variety of stories. Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be more of a Star Wars type science fiction adventure and I've a feeling that one will turn out OK.
Did you not watch The Winter Solider?

Arnim Zola was a small moment that was ultimately unimportant to the plot. The three aircraft carriers isn't dramatically different from the level of sci-fi in a James Bond film.
However, it doesn't sound like we're dramatically apart. I think a Black Widow movie with a tone similar to a James Bond film could work. I have no problem with it having comic book elements. I would say that's more or less a given.
I'm skeptical that his entire brain could be stored on a thumb drive. Plus, I feel that would just come off as repetitive. It was a cool moment, but do we need to see the same thing twice?

And the brainwashed killer cyborg from WWII...?![]()
Honestly I think Bond is a poor measure for a grounded spy movie. As you pointed out, over the years they've done some very campy, comic-bookey material themselves, to say nothing of the bonkers action sequences.
The likes of 'Borne', 'Taken' or 'Salt' would be a better benchmark for tone IMO.

Eh, he's still less fantastical than Jaws.

I'm confused. Are you in favor of a grounded spy story or opposed to it? If you think it needs more high concept comic book elements, like Kirk was suggesting, and you're opposed to the idea of a more grounded story, respectfully, you don't get to suggest the tone of the movie just to shoot down the idea. It was Aldo who suggested it, so he can say whether he meant more in line with Salt or James Bond.
I think a movie in the spirit of James Bond movies that are no more fantastical than The Winter Soldier would work quite well.
Brainwashing, cryonics and cybernetics is less fantastical that a tall bloke with metal dentures...? OK, sure, I totally buy that!
