So, today I had an interesting episode happen. I was on my PC, which is in my room, went up to get a class of water, and as I'm coming back, I happen to look at the windowsill and there's a chipmunk perched there quietly looking at me. I wondered how long it was there and how long he'd been in the house for. I had been playing a PC game at the time.

It seemed to like hiding under my bed. Fortunately, I had some nuts at my disposal, and after much patience, I was able to lure it out and towards the front door where some more nuts were placed, and out it went! That was much excitement for today!

Better a chipmunk than a scorpion. I never want to see one of those inside again. Lowered my hand to the floor to pick up a magazine, and a scorpion came up on my hand.

I have had 2 scorpions in my house.

The first one I was like OMFG WHAT IS THIS?!!!!! And I captured it in a jar and called up my friend whose mother is a zoologist. I was convinced it must have come in on some imported fruit or something and this was a simply amaaaaaaazing find, just really bizarre and dangerous and cool. Because I had no idea we had native scorpions in Australia, I had somehow never heard of this. I had never lived in an area where they were common. My friend had a good laugh at me and my exotic find.

I let that one go out the back and the second one I found I smashed with a shoe.

I was in Arizona once and saw a centipede that was like a foot long and very thick, it was extremely impressive.

Yes, definitely! I'm actually glad I live in an area where poisonous spiders aren't common. Scorpions? Teacake's encounter would freak me the hell out. I don't know if I'd be able to live in a place like that. That's the advantage of living in a colder climate. Nothing much of anything poisonous, and for that I'm grateful.

I have friends in Toronto who had a raccoon infestation in their attic. They'd had roof work done, and the attic vent wasn't properly secured. The two animals did soffit damage before they were finally gotten rid of, through the temporary installation of a one-way door. Fortunately, the female didn't give birth in there. The long winter this year had delayed their normal mating cycle.

I have brushtail possums living in my attic. I have paid to have them removed twice now and their entrance points sealed up. Works for a few months. I have given up. They are everywhere, have seen them running up inner city streets. They are bigger than cats. We don't have rabies here so that accounts for less horror at such things.

As to the scorpions, not deadly or even serious so I don't care about them. Some people have a reaction but most just have a bad sting like a wasp.

At least that chipmunk wasn't singing. I would drop kick a singing chipmunk out the door.

Chipmunks are SUPER cute. We don't have them here. They are adorable.
