That was a great episode. I too think that was Man bear but at the same time Will really roughed up that reporter chick. I almost hope he did it as it would be such a mind **** way for the show to go.

Pretty much the only mistake Will made was when he acted like a damn psycho in the barn instead of explaining his plan like a sane person. After that he pretty much had to catch Freddie by any means necessary because she could have ruined the whole ruse in a heartbeat and send Will back to jail.

Well, she did just find body parts in the freezer, so anything he said was going to "sound like a psycho" until he had a chance to get her to calm down and listen.

Season 3 is great news. I think this is a show that's gonna gain a larger audience over time.

It does "well" in the same day +3 or or or something stupid.

It just means it does well over the weekend with DVR viewing. I hope NBC makes a deal with Netflix or Amazon or Direct TV like they did with Friday Night Lights, and FX did with Damages.

Really? I wasn't surprised at all, it was obviously going to be renewed, the ratings aren't great but it's dirt cheap for NBC, there's no scripted show they could put in Hannibal's place that wouldn't cost 3 to 4 times as much. That and the fact that Hannibal is critically acclaimed means they'll keep it, at this point season 4 is a foregone conclusion, because even if NBC cancels the show it won't affect it that much, Hannibal's financing model means the american network is much less important than they are for shows primarily produced to air on them.

I do not know much about how the show is paid for.

Usually for american network shows it works like this: A network picks up a show and pays for it, they make their investment back by selling ads running during the show.
The studio producing the show then makes additional money by selling it internationally and on home video.

Hannibal is not produced for NBC and then sold internationally after the fact, it's an international co-production from the start, in this case NBC is only one of the networks/companies paying for it, they get a 1 hour drama for a fraction of the price it actually costs to make. That makes it an attractive show for them despite the not so good ratings.

And the Hannibal character has a global and highly enduring appeal.

It's a mystery to me why this show isn't a bigger hit in the US, as it is one of the best Hannibal Lecter adaptations I have seen, but I suspect the show will continue to grow an audience long after it has left the air. It'll probably clean up in DVD and streaming sales over the next decade.

I wouldn't count NBC out, if they canceled it the show might be in trouble. There have been several inter nation shows, like Legend of the Seeker (I think that was the name) that got canceled because of money issues.

Insane penultimate episode. Once Hannibal is footloose and fancy free, I hope good stories can continue next season...

That was probably the best episode of the show so far. Or at least my personal favorite. Michael Pitt was just phenomenal as Mason Verger. He's been a highlight this past season. He added such a dangerous quality to the scenes he was in - he was entirely unpredictable and you had no idea what was going to happen with him in the room. The "moment" was also incredibly satisfying, terrifying and entertaining all at once - as a matter of fact Mason Verger's line of "I am enchanted and terrified" pretty much sums up my thoughts on the show in general.

I am so excited next week is a season finale and not a series finale. Even though I have an idea of how the season might end, I absolutely cannot wait to see how things unfold in the season finale and where things go in season three. Hannibal is quickly becoming my favorite show currently on TV and one of my favorite incarnations - if not my absolute favorite - of the Hannibal Lecter character.

I also highly suspect NBC wants to keep Hannibal around because once the show gets into adapting the books surely it'll garner more attention & awareness. Besides being critically acclaimed & having a strong fanbase, I think NBC knows once the show gets into Silence of the Lambs territory, for example, it might attract more viewers. The Silence of the Lambs is probably the most popular & famous Hannibal Lecter story, so I assume people's interest will be piqued up once the show adapts that book.

Assuming they ever get the rights to use Silence of the Lambs.
