When the Vatican Hatchet man, Herr Starr had to put together a team to hunt Jessie Custer, an average ordinary preacher who developed superhypnotic powers called "The Word of God" after an angel/demon halfbreed baby started squatting between his ears, he drafted a league of international assassins of whom none could speak a world of English.

Cheese in the ears or white noise would have worked too.

Was there a name of the lover of Lady Sif who was seduced by Lorelei? I can't remember if I heard it.

This was impressive. Not only an appearance by a significant movie character, but actual location filming at Caesar's Palace -- they pulled out... well, not all the stops, but at least the majority of them for this one. Sif had more to do here than she's had in two movies so far. (And it's cool to hear "Son of Coul" again.)

And thank you, Fitz's facial recognition software, for sparing us from the comics cliche of the good guys fighting each other before they figure out they're on the same side.

Solid story, too, with some important character-arc stuff happening, and a shocking final moment. My mouth was hanging open for a long time after that. So I guess May's initial reluctance to join the team was just a front. She's been riding herd on Coulson the whole time.

Eh, Spoilers aren't too big of a deal to me, I've already gleemed some things that'll happen.

For future reference, the word you want is "gleaned," meaning gathered a little at a time (like crops after a reaping).

Lady Sif was going to have a greater role in the last movie, but Jamie Alexander unfortunately got injured. I'm curious to see what it would have entailed, but, sadly, it was never filmed. Certainly, this isn't a Thor movie, but it hopefully helped make up for it somewhat.

Lorelei would be a nice addition to Thor.

Having Ward not shoot Lorelei on sight with the night-night gun was completely stupid. Seriously, he shouldn't have been out there anyway and then he goes and doesn't shoot on sight? I'm sure Shield trained him to shoot first and ask questions later when confronted by an enemy. Stupid.

Of course, Shield was too dumb to bring in female agents at first.

Coulson tells Skye that men died to protect the alien secret but leaves out that him and his team were the ones who did the actual killing.

Ward is the luckiest bastard in the MCU. First, May. Now, Lorelei.

According to Sif, sorcery is Lorelei's power. But didn't Thor explain in the first movie that there was no magic in Asgard, only technology that was incomprehensible to humans?

Actually, he said they're one in the same. I assume that basically just means that magic is a science.

Loki, Frigga, and Lorelei have all wielded magic so far.

One could argue that some of the powers that have been demonstrated by Asgardians are scientific rather than mystical, e.g, super strength, flight, shapeshifting, illusion control, etc.

Sif was talking down to the monkeys.

The Night-night gun would not have worked on Lorelei.

Far too dense.

She was hit by a shot gun and barely noticed.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s job, Wards job, was to find her, and open a path for Sif.

Talking to the ginger goddess, even sacrificing himself by talking to the ginger goddess, was going to slow the ginger goddess down far more effectively than shooting her with something that didn't have a fraction of the stopping power required.

BTW, I mentioned three blue aliens before because they're the only ones I knew were Marvel, but I missed the Levians (who I'm not sure are blue) and the Sarks.

I checked the wiki to get the spellings right, and all the races are described as blue skinned.

Well, Skye's unfazed reaction to Coulson's revelation was rather surprising, but then again she was just happy to be alive.

And there's more to Agent May than meets the eye. So whose side is she really on?

I liked that episode. It was very epic. I liked seeing the ladies of shield verses the guys. I wasn't big on Fitz fixing the Asgardian device so easily and all those men they sent against Lorelei for the first wave but overall it's one of my top episodes.

Didn't Sif say her voice casts a spells? Maybe he was under a spell the second she spoke. Plus, if Ward took Lorelei as being similar to Loki, shooting her and failing may have resulted in him getting stabbed like Coulson. I think he was using himself as bait, non-threatening, for Sif to finish her off.

Regarding sending the male agents in, I think the idea was supposed to be that Sif would deal with Lorelei while Ward and Coulson took out her minions, but, yeah, probably would've been better to send in May instead of Ward from the start.

Ward got Lorelayed. Pretty decent episode, had entertaining Asgard shenanigans yet moved the overall storyline along.

Well, I think she's talking to Fury, but I think it's more for SHIELD's best interest than Coulson's best interest. I'm not sure there's inherently anything wrong with that - they all work for an organization that's bigger than just this team.

Was Ward "sent in"? It looked more like he covered one of the exits and dealt with minions. Presumably, May was covering some other location. They probably should have used overwhelming force entirely of female agents, but, given the team they had, they didn't have enough female combat-ready agents to otherwise effectively deal with everything.

Lorelei very clearly didn't speak at first, the director was obviously building tension there. Ward actually had plenty of time to turn around and run, and I seriously wondered if he wasn't staying on purpose, thinking he would be able to resist.

Meanwhile, exactly why not shoot? Why not shoot 8 or 10 times if she is a tough Asgardian? He has nothing to gain by not shooting, and nothing to gain by not calling out for Sif.

I would have found it more believable if he'd shot and the gun did nothing. Fine. I would have found it more believable if he'd dropped the gun and put his hands up. Just pointing and saying "OK, turn around and get on your knees" (which is what actually happened) was ridiculous, because it indicates that Ward actually believed his gun was a threat to her, but he didn't use it.

Again, I felt during that scene that Ward wanted her to use her powers on him, (Asgardian berserker feelings maybe?)

If the Bus could get there in x amount of time, then at least a couple of female SHIELD agents could have gotten their. They are masters of logistics, after all. Form a double ring with female agents in the centre and males with rifles on the outside, wearing head phones.

But of course there needed to be a plot.

I enjoyed the episode. I liked the mention of all the blue-skinned aliens (hiding Kree in plain sight?) and it was cool to see Sif. I thought there were a lot of humorous moments in the episode and the twist at the end was cool.

There were a couple of things that bugged me though, one was Ward not shooting Lorelei when he had the chance. The other was that 'all men have an inherent weakness'.
