I dunno man .... I think you have to leap through a lot of fantastic hoops to make some of the plot holes in this episode work. The most egregious of them IMO being an apparent literal class warfare battle between the country club members and the help, which I think most people would agree is absurd to happen during a ZA. Most people in such a situation would be motivated to work together since money and valuables would have become worthless.

I think you and some others have forgotten about the extremely popular film Dirty Dancing in which a teenager and her much older dance instructor have an affair. And in that film IIRC she hadn't even graduated high school. Also, Dirty Dancing came out over 25 years ago.

But here is a more up-to-date example, Frank Underwood's relationship with the much younger Zoe in House of Cards. Albiet Zoe was likely in her mid-20's while he as in his early 50's.

Walking dead is both. You can't really have one (character development) without the other (action). I think there was enough action though to be fine.

That wasn't really my main gripe, but just that I don't feel the show works with just two characters (especially when one is Kinney, who is just ok). I agreed with JB on Talking Dead about wanting to know what everyone else is up to.

The drawing out of things is one of many things TWD needs to work on a bit as well. I think a lot of the characters reuniting could have happened by now without too much loss.

So the takeaway is that we still do not know Daryl's age, so a judgement based on the actor has nothing to do with the characters.

The average series, whether sitcom or drama, is loaded with sexual content or innuendo. The American culture is obsessed with that--and the "sex video" antics of any celebrity "accidentally" losing it--to TMZ, etc.

Remember how innumerable members of the public, late night talk shows, comedians and so-called legitimate news sources could not stop covering/talking about/perving on Paris Hilton's (and a dozen other celebs) sex videos? That's the same society you speak of.

No one would even blink at Daryl getting involved with Beth. In fact, I did not seeing any Monday-morning recaps (media) of the episode, targeting Beth's suggestive behavior during the drinking game.

:techman: Buncha haters all over this thread. Beth's been around since early Season 2, so it's damned time she got a focus episode and Emily Kinney did good with it. I like that Talking Dead suggested her rant to Daryl about still being alive - a survivor - was also a bit meta towards fans pissing and whining about the "useless little girl." I know I've been expecting her to get red-shirted since the Farm was attacked and yet here she is, paired up for the moment with the breakout character and still alive.

We didn't really have anything shocking or unexpected revealed about either Daryl or Beth here - though it was nice to have it confirmed that Daryl's basically a less-romanticized Sam Winchester - but it was all well-done and I'm glad we spent the hour with these two. Since there is no endgame to this show beyond "survive as long as possible" we should be spending time getting to know these characters.

As to the "Daryl/Beth ewwwwww" thing; I'm not actively a shipper for them but my response is "Comics!Dale/Andrea. That is all."

It really is amazing how fucking prudish so-called "open minded" sci-fi fans are around here. The fact that they're also completely oblivious to the fact that this sort of thing goes on all the time is even more bewildering. Patrick Stewart and Harrison Ford both say hi.

It probably happened very shortly after the outbreak, which makes it very believable. It's not hard to imagine some people holding on to their class and believing that they're more important than the underlings, despite that the money is all worthless (which they may even be in denial about still). With all of that amidst the backdrop of terror, it's pretty easy to imagine things went sour quick.

It's much different if a 60-70 man gets with a 35 year old WOMAN
Than a 35 -45 year old man getting with an 18 year old girl, one he met and protected like a big brother when she was 15-16 years old.

    Fixed it for you.

Also, doesn't change the fact that huge age differences between romantic couples is fucking common, and has been throughout all of recorded history. Here's a list of 53 examples in Hollywood alone, ranging from 7 year to 60 year disparities.

Nevermind that this isn't going on at all on the show, except in your head. At most, Beth was showing interest just like any young woman would in an older, more experienced man who shows them even a modicrum of respect and protectiveness. Nevermind someone who saves their life on a regular basis. Especially when intoxicated. And let's forget the fact that whatever vibes Beth was giving off, which I personally didn't see at all, they were 1) incredibly minor, taking a real stretch to imagine and 2) completely ignored/unnoticed/unreturned by Daryl.

Also, let's forget that even if what you imagined was accurate no one in the media has even batted a fucking eye at it. You know, those people who get paid to get hard-ons about trumped up scandals no one cares about. Yeah, them.

Well said. America did not bat an eye, especially when this is the same country spending their days and nights obsessing on (mentioned earlier) sex videos of the famous, and invest their lives into all manner of sexual content on commercial TV and the internet.

So, while Beth did not get what she wanted, if it happened, one adult engaging with another is just that. Nothing to even consider.

OK your first mistake is to judge a normal society to Hollywood .

Second I never said it was going on in the show, I said they did the slap dat @ss dance on The Talking Dead and it's funny a few weeks before they talked about it and the guests also said they thought it was sick because of Beth being under aged.
Honestly, we don't know how old Beth (or Daryl) really is as we are going by a Wiki which we all know may or may not be accurate, the only thing we do know is that in the middle of season 2 Maggie's age was mentioned as 22 and Beth as 16.

Lastly I don't live my life, have my morals or any other thing based on the news media, especially today's news media.

So, do Walkers know how to maintain a Grandfather clock?

I have a Grandfather Clock (well, actually a Grandmother clock) built by my great-uncle and the weights in it need to be lifted every few days otherwise the clock stops. So for the last 18 months/2 years who's been pulling up the weights in this clock?

I thought that was the whole point. The clock was tipped over so it wouldn't run and make any noise. When Daryl set it upright, it started ticking again.

Even tipped over, depending on at what angle, the weights would still fall. And even if the weights were raised the pendulum would have to be set into motion (the movement of simply up-righting the clock wouldn't be enough to set the pendulum in motion.)

daryl had no experience with that type of clock, so he didn't know that it would ring the walker dinner bell, although the audience was just waiting for it to happen.
All this talk about different ages is moot in a global ZA.

Well, I don't know about that. As we've learned, being pregnant and giving birth isn't exactly ideal under these conditions. Not to mention crying baby.

Sure, condoms would still be good after a year or two, but how much of a supply are people going to carry around, versus, you know, food? Or a hammer?
