But this is what Laurel can do... She can get so drunk that she won't feel a thing when all the criminals and evil doers are kicking her ass.

But even that is too soon. The show is showing how it took Ollie and her sister years to reach their level of discipline. Laurel would need several years of similar training.

Maybe at some point they'll start doing flashfowards instead of flashbacks.

Reason enough for the writers to never go in that direction. I am happy with Sara keeping the Black Canary identity.

Laurel has been shown in the past to have some self-defense training. She's not Canary-level, but the groundwork is there.

Yeah, we've seen her fighting off bad guys who attacked her several times.

Maybe Sarah'll find some mystical stone in the League of Assassins' armory that'll allow her to transfer her katra into Laurel or something, thereby downloading her badassery into her, Matrix-style... and that way, Ollie could, in a way, eventually end up with both of 'em. :p

Sarah's super fine, but she's a goner for sure, I think.

That's like saying stepping on a bug in your backyard is groundwork for fighting bugs Starship Troopers style. Oliver and Sara went to hell and back and trained for years, Laurel took some self defense classes, whoop dee doo.:roll eyes:

It's also possible, with the introduction of powers, Laurel might get the sonic scream. Couple that with a potentially dead Sara, Oliver/Arrow might just see it his responsibility to train her ala Roy.

With bringing in the Canary character and Laurel losing her job, becoming addicted to drugs, and just spiraling out of control in general, it seems the writers are heading in the direction of transforming her into a hero. If this was a show like Smallville, I could see Laurel kicking her addiction and getting her old job back, but Arrow is all about change and connecting the characters more and more to the world of costumed heroes. Besides, with enemies like Malcolm Merlyn, Rhas al Gul, the League of Assassins, Brother Blood, the Suicide Squad, and Deathstroke all amassing, Oliver's gonna need all the help he can get.

Laurel Lance becoming the Black Canary is inevitable.

No it's not. The role of her character is more similar to Katie Holmes's character in the Batman movies. And we all know what happened to her. If anything Sara's evolution to Black Canary has a straighter path.

I got caught up with Arrow recently. Its ok, although the fake out with the Blood storyline is complete BS. Laurel did bring up legitimate problems with Blood, and everyone just ignores the fact that his case file was missing with no explanation and just go back to trusting him. Also, Super Roy is idiotic. That said, its a fairly decent show even if its in a slump right now, which still makes it 100x better than the other live action superhero show.

Decades-old files go missing all the time; nothing weird about it.

It was one specific missing file, and one that would be possibly incriminating. Plus, it was stolen, and even though the characters don't know what the audience knows, it still makes no sense to just forget every suspicious thing about Blood just because Laurel has problems. I was hoping we'd get them going after Blood, and not the writers jerking the audience around. It wouldn't have been an issue if they hadn't turned Ollie onto Blood being evil at this point in the season and had waited till near the end of the season, but now that they did put him on Blood's trail hitting the reset button is just frustrating.

I didn't get the impression that Arrow Inc. is just going to forget about it, but other things have taken precedent for the time being (ie. the events of the episode.). Plus they don't really have much to go on at this point, do they?

No, files do go missing all the time, and back in the days of paper files, the documents got taken out and then returned to the wrong folder all the time. My first job out of high school was basically hours of searching for misfiled documents and putting them where they belonged.

I agree with you that it was a dangling plot point, but when Laurel was kidnapped by someone who turned out to not be Blood, that was overwhelming.

But any villain who was half way competent wouldn't have kidnapped someone themselves. Sending a minion dressed like himself was a super obvious thing to do, so obvious you'd at least think that Ollie and his team would consider it. Either way, it only happened like this because the writers wrote the plot line this way. I think its messing around with the audience just to be irritating. They should have just left Blood's cover falling apart for when they were willing to go through with it, and not just tease the audience. Again, I still liked the last few episodes, but I hate what they did with pointlessly teasing the reveal of Blood.

Look at it this way. Ollie's gonna have to say "shit, Laurel was right!", when it is revealed. Then they can have more angst over the fact that if he had trusted her more lives would have been saved.
