Deathlok comes from the Future.

That means that that August kid is going to live out his life in the TVMU well past the present day of what we are viewing, then they'll slap some grey into his hair, backstep, and it'll be (seeming so) 45 year old August playing Deathlok whining about how shitty the future is and that every bugger is making the wrong decision.

Originally Deathlok was white from the future.

Early Nineties they had a modern time black guy become Deathlok.

Early naughties Joe Casey had a dead SHIELD agent accidentally freejack the Deathlock body, who then had a very entertaining war with the Clown from the Circus of Crime (No seriously, Imagine if Magatron's 2nd Starscream was competent and very well armed.)

Mere months ago, "Deathlocket" was an awkward, childish, 14 year old girl from modern day, grafted into a demure version of the Deathlok weapons system, who was forced to play out a version of the Hunger Games in the popular maxiseries Avengers Arena, by Arcade. So many, many, many dead children.

During the current run of Wolverine and the X-Men, they have a Humanitiless Deathllok as a Professor of Future History, who during the course of any moment is comically reeling off probabilities of how that moment will spin off into some god awful horrid doomsday scenario.

Deathlok, then. I've liked the character and my largest exposure was his 90's ongoing.
It seems when I've read him his origin and backstories have been largely different.

So, not having a huge attachment to either of the versions I've read I'm not torn that Mike Peterson isn't an actual comic version of Deathlok. Wish it had been, kinda but I'm willing to go with it.

Plus this allows for him to be enough of a blank slate that it's not as scrutinized, even by the diehard Deathlok fandom (I'm assuming there is one somewhere that may be a bit upset, there usually is).

I was a big fan of Deathlok, both the 70's version and the 90's one as well. At the '94 Philly Comic Con I got Rich Buckler Sr. to do a quick Deathlok sketch for me:

I know almost nothing of Deathlok but I'm delighted to see an actual comic book superhero on the show.

Finally watched the last episode, thought it was really good. I really liked the Skye reveal, I definitely did not see that coming. As a long time Iron Man comics fan, I'm really glad to see Donnie Gill Blizzard too. Always liked him.

Who eles thinks something is going on with Fitz? I have a feeling they're setting him up to be a bad guy. Just tiny little bits here and there. I hope I'm wrong though, because I really like the team of Fitz and Simmons.

So Coulson knows about Ward and May now. Since it's no longer a secret, their relationship is obviously going to be used to cause a problem for the team in some other manner.


Holy crap, all these upcoming appearances: Stan Lee, Bill Paxton, Sif, and now Deathlok! I liked the Dwayne McDuffie Deathlok stories, so i'm really glad to hear this. I really like how they're doing Deathlok too: he doesn't just show up out of nowhere, we've essentially seen his origin over the course of a few different episodes.


I really like where this show is right now.

My reaction to this news was basically: "He's playing Deathlok? Wow. Deathlok. Really. Who the hell is Deathlok?"

I looked him up, and apparently I'm not familiar with him because his only prior screen appearance was in the Black Panther animated series that I haven't seen. I may have come across him in the odd comic here and there, but he didn't leave an impression. So... he's basically a zombie cyborg?

Deathlok's been around for quite a while but he's not really known by casual fans. He had a run in the 90s where he got some attention. He was most recently used to go effect for Rick Remander's Uncanny X-Force and Jason Aaron's Wolverine and the X-Men.

I really like it. Besides those points, which are reasonably compelling, I think it's worth adding two things.

1. Putting The Leader on AoS is relatively low risk, compared to trying another Hulk movie.

2. Putting The Leader on AoS would seem to increase the chances of AoS itself, by bringing in a heavy-hitter as the villain, not to mention by possibly bringing in other heavy-hitters like Ruffalo and The Hulk, even if just for the Final Showdown™.

So, as opposed to wasting The Leader on AoS, it would actually be making good use of what would otherwise be just a dangling thread in the MCU.

Damn, I haven't read a Deathlok comic book since the 70s....

I don't think I have, either. None of these alternate versions ring a bell for me. But then, I've blocked out a lot of latter-day Marvel crap.

That is about Ben Kingsley's Trevor Slattery/Mandarin from Iron Man 3 being interviewed in prison.

^Yes, but the producers have said we'll see some cameos. Since it's a prison, there's only so many relevant cameos we could get other than prisoners. Luke Cage might be there since it's the prison he was in that led to the experiment, but they hinted at more than one cameo.
