Its one thing for Carl to wander off on a farm--particularly when he does not have the structure of a traditional school, friends and normal chores, but the Governor leaving a girl (Penny 2.0) to wage an assbrained war is another.

The former demands structure (to keep Carl busy and developing like a normal kid). The latter situation is quite simple: if you "love" this girl so much, then keep your ass at the camp / stop pretending you are some military mind (instead of the bullshit artist he was all along).

Norman Reedus is 44, but we do not know how old Daryl is. Even if Daryl is--say...40. And? Are you saying you have not seen men in that age range in relationships with women around Beth's age (18 - 19) at all?

So far, everybody that dies turns. Not sure how Judith turning would make them anymore "fucked" than if she just stayed dead. Why does that make humanity "fucked"? There have been countless talks in this thread about how society would change, but it could definitely survive.

Cool. I hope they do the Alexandria stuff sooner than later, that sounds pretty cool from what I read on Wikipedia.
In the comics, which lasts longer, the prison or Alexandria?

The Alexandria safe zone will probably be found at the end of this season with it being stretched out over S5 and 6 still not sure how this series will end though

In Lieu of proof of anything else it's probably easy to assume Daryl is the same age as his actor. And, outside of bizarre religious cults or going back in time to around 1920, no I cannot say I have ever seen a 40-year-old man in a relationship with a girl more than half his age. Pretty sure such a thing in our society is generally considered border-line creepy.

I really, really doubt the show will ship the two together because it just wouldn't be pretty accepted by the audience and I even doubt the actors would go for it (even though the actress who plays Beth is in her 20s.)

Yeah, those two together.... Just unsettling. Hell, I struggle to think if the two have even had much screen-time together to suggest such a thing would be possible. Daryl and Michonne would make more sense. Hell, Daryl and fist-bump girl should she join the group would make more sense than Daryl and Beth.

I do not think this means what you think it means. :D

Anyway, I'm actually cool with the idea of Daryl and Beth because it probably means more screentime/meaningful interaction for her. Besides, we didn't get Dale and Andrea which was one of the best parts of the comics so why not Daryl and Beth? :p

Mind, I don't necessarily think they'll actually go this route but I'd be cool with it.

"Fist-bump girl"? Who is that? Do you mean Tara? Isn't she homosexual? Or is that an exaggeration by you to exemplify how much Daryl/Beth doesn't make sense?

Yeah, Tara. And while we see her in/discuss being homosexual it's just as possible she's Bi. But, yeah, also a take on how little it makes sense for Daryl should hook up with Beth.

You know what's creepy? Zombies. But a 40-year old and a 20-year old isn't that big of a deal. When I was 18, a friend of mine dated a 35-year old. I thought that was a little weird, but it really wasn't so long as they were both OK with it.

Keep in mind Beth was actually married when we first meet her, so she is not quite as innocent as many would think.

    Do what now?

ETA: Oh right, Jimmy. Not her husband though, just a boyfriend.

Yeah, I don't remember Beth being married when we first met her. Still, a big difference between someone her age and someone twice her age.

Dude, she's an adult. It's not that big a deal. Plus, it's the end of the world, so they're not likely to give that much of a damn about pre-walkerpocalypse social conventions.

I don't think it was THAT stupid. The area where the girl was hanging out SHOULD have been safe. It was clear for hundreds of yards-- plenty of room to run.

Since they've been camped out there for a while, and based on others' experience, there should NOT have been any walkers that could have come OUT OF THE GROUND. The water should have protected them. The sign was for our benefit to explain hidden dangers.

Her mom was in fact worried about the walker she did see...and despite hearing that the water would protect them, she saw the walker still coming...until finally washed away. But by then it was too late.

So not so crazy,,,mom was doing "work" (watching for Walkers from a good vantage point) while her daughter should have been safe, having"fun", and not bothering mom.

Daryl and the teenaged Beth? Ummmm....no. There's a difference betweeen an older man like Dale being with a woman in her late 30s/early 40s like Andrea--a woman with some life experience--and a 40 something man being with a teen girl who's barely an adult. Very borderline creepy. Why this need to ship Daryl with various people all of a sudden? He had one conversation with Michonne and suddenly it's, "the powers that be are going to ship them." No, they're not. And do Daryl Reedus and Emily Kinney have any chemistry whatsoever? No, not really.

I suspect that Carol will return at some point and she and Daryl will continue their romantic/platonic/sort of romantic/deep friendship connection that's very poignant yet only vaguely teased.

And that's really the most satisfying option, no? Daryl's character wouldn't be served well by some dippy little airhead. If TPTB make him a teen dream.....ugh. No. Just please....no.

Oh, and they killed Herschel. Those BASTARDS. :scream: :scream:

My money is on the show ending with as Carl the last survivor, surrounded by an unending horde of walkers...then Clementine kicks the door in and goes all River Tam/Hit-Girl on the lot of them. Cut to black. ;)

It is common in the real world, so in the world of a ZA, I doubt anyone would blink an eye.

    Also:

...which makes the entire idea of a tank being the end-all superweapon such a joke, when it was rendered junk with such ease by one man with an explosive.

Is a tank really that easy to take out with a grenade? I'd imagine the cannon would take a beating, but the crew compartment shouldn't really explode, should it?

Pre-Zombie Apocalypse, in a functioning Society, I'm generally opposed to barely 20/Mid 40s relationships. People, in General are just in two different places in their life, with different Goals (In relation to Kids, Family, Looking out for the Future, Social Activities, etc). There are of course exceptions, but, as a general rule, it's not a relationship that's likely to last.

Post-Zombie Apocalypse, with Society no longer functioning, everyone pretty much has the same goal, to survive another day, week, month... So, I don't really think it's necessary (Or perhaps even desirable) to think of the long term future, you pretty much just grab whatever morsel of happiness life throws at you and enjoy it while you can, so, I don't really see a problem with it

Though, I do admit to being a Carol/Daryll 'shipper

Incorrect. Beth was 16 when we first met her. She was dating that Jimmy kid, but that was it. Far from married or an adult. She's probably about 18ish now.
