What is all this Garth bashing, the character was awesome.

People with silly names are often driven to greatness and/or great evil.
Garth doesn't seem like much of a villain to me. The whole point of the Enterprise being there was to cure him of his mental illness. Yeah, he attempted genocide before he was captured, and he did some evil stuff when he was in prison, but he seems like such a silly character to turn into a movie villain. Especially since he was never really portrayed as a bad guy as much as someone who was sick.
That's the whole point! He's deranged, he's unstable, you still feel compassion for him because there is more to him than just being a dickhead. And he's such a wildly unstable and narcissistic character that any new events in the JJverse could send him over different edges.
All the more reason to 'rehabilitate' him and make him genuinely scary. Bait & switch. But it ain't gonna happen
I can't speak for anybody else but I certainly liked him. He was cheesy and over the top at times, but so was Shatner. And far more frequently.
Garth helped establish some important backstory for the Federation we didn't get before: the Battle of Axanar around 2250 that helped keep the Federation together (we never learned why it happened or the details surrounding the battle) and ensured that humans and Vulcans would be able to continue to serve together "as brothers."
But uhh.. he isn't Quinto. Maybe I'm being dense? Maybe Mirror Spock in the JJverse had an unfortunate run in with a targ and his face in toddlerhood?
Maybe Mirror Spock didn't wear enough sunscreen during his vacation in the crazy hot Vulcan desert.

There are plenty of reasons why he isn't Khan. For one, his chest isn't full enough.
And his trenchcoat/jacket isn't made of rich Corinthian leather.

The blonde is gorgeous and looks like she and NuKirk could produce a much better looking David then what we got the first time round.
I'm old enough to remember him being on Square Pegs with Sarah Jessica Parker (CBS, 1982-83). I didn't watch the show regularly but I did see quite a few episodes when it was on the air. Merritt did a better job on the show than Sarah did if you ask me.
It doesn't sound evil to me. It sounds smoooooooth...
