The Star Trek Into Darkness teaser trailer is here!

If Anthony had anything confirmed there would probably be an entire article devoted to the exclusive.
He's probably speculating too.

I'm not super familiar with the site, but is he the one who months ago supposedly had a source who was sure Cumberbatch was Khan?

Eh, you're all wrong, Cumberbatch is Kirk's brother Sam. The accent? Eh, we never heard him speak, so who's to say he didn't spend time with the English?

I've seen the trailer several times now and all I can say is that benerdict,s character makes the 2009 character villain Nero look a right pussy.

I still think with the nine minute preview and the 2nd trailer we will still be in the dark who the villain is and his characters name ????? JJ likes to keep his cards close to his chest and I think he's loving every minute on keeping the fans guessing !!!! IMO

"Where No Man Has Gone Before" is one of my favorite TOS episodes. That one with Garth, on the other hand... not so classic.

Yeah... and Garth doesn't qualify as "Iconic" as Mitchell does, either.

Her expression doesn't convey a very convincing sense of fear. But perhaps she really isn't afraid, perhaps she is screaming as a way of simply getting someones attention more quickly that simply shouting.
Honestly, it looks like somebody is forcing her to sing against her will. And maybe that's exactly what's going on.

Good idea, entirely possible as well.

You'd have a point if the actual scene was of her frozen just like that for a prolonged period of time.

I had the same feeling of the scene when I watched the video originally.

Alice Eve as Carol Marcus actually makes the most sense to me, the Dr. Dehner-esque hairdo notwithstanding. I think it's also likely, given the official synopsis that's been published, that she may not last long, leaving Kirk with that "personal score" to settle.

The plus side with using Fleet Captain Garth is that you can't really ruin the character, since he's starting from such a low level of apparent worth. The only way is up.

So that means no David.

He's just got such a silly name. I would have a hard time taking a villain named Garth seriously.

Garth was supposed to be an Earth human, wasn't he? The book The Worlds of the Federation seemed to indicate that Izar was a Federation colony planet populated by different races and species and that Garth was a human who grew up there. If I'm wrong and he was meant to be a humanoid from another civilization and world feel free to correct me.

TOS never went into detail about his background other than his Starfleet career and the battle at Axanar.
