When I saw that ep recently (one of the Basics two-parter?) I thought: wtf? I do think Beltran/Chakotay is quite good when he's squaring up against Janeway, as in Scorpion. Just started rewatching S5 and shocked that couldn't remember some of the episodes. Only abiding memory from the first couple I've watched is Janeway seeming ever ready to launch torpedoes.
I'm pretty sure every Federation shuttle they purchase at various trade settlements comes with its own unique set of five collectible trading torpedoes.
i don't think that shuttles have a standard compliment of torpedoes. Runabouts and the deltaflier are much larger vessels. Surely they could carry an almost unlimited number of torpedoes in transporter suspension and really can't they just transporter clone torpedoes if they can be broken down into an energy pattern? Did you ever wonder why they stopped naming shuttles? They name Runabouts.
"No replicator rations for a week. We're in the middle of replenishing our inexhaustible supply of torpedoes."
I almost said this week, but, I figured that was too severe, Janeway would definitely ban him from Shuttle Piloting. Deanna only crashed one ship before Picard barred her (Well, until he wanted to make sure the ship hit a target, and then he deliberately had her drive)
Chakotay definitely lost the lion's share. I think there literally was one point where he lost a shuttlecraft in three consecutive episodes.
Ye gods, finals are evil. Anyway, I'm finally catching up again on Voyager, up to "The Voyager Conspiracy". Why doesn't anyone say, "Seven, you're nuts?" as soon as she starts to babble? Really it's way too late to be playing the Maquis vs Starfleet card. If this had been done in the first season,it may have been interesting. No. Just no. Chakotay, no. Shut up. As far the shuttles, I'm thinking there's a few solutions. One, they're cannibalizing parts of the decks that no one is using. Two, they're finding random space junk and Tom, while not in the brig or playing on the holodeck, is creating shuttles out of whatever they find. Three, they've reconfigured the replicators to be continuously spitting out shuttle parts, which why everyone has to eat in the mess whatever mess they're serving.
Part 2 for today Finals are boring. I hate typing boring papers about boring stuff Ok back again.FYI, I'd like to see a Trek based time travel series. I'm going to try to catch up on several episodes today, as it's been a while, and won't watch anymore until Sunday again. Pathfinder. I liked it. Even though Barclay is not my favorite character, I still like him. I've got Asperger's, so I can understand his crazy obsessions. Also, if anyone's ever watched My Little Pony: Friendship is Witchcraft, there's a whole subplot about Twilight Sparkle writing franfiction about her friends. They weren't happy about it either. I liked this episode better than the TNG movies The fact that Admiral Paris still cares about Tom is nice, especially after we've seen how strained it is. Hopeful, uplifting, good Trek. Neelix singing? Oh, why not. He's still one of my favorites. Fair Haven Oh good grod. I really don't like "The Quiet Man" style Irish culture. Many people gripe about Chakotay's background was handled, well, not happy with this am I. Miles O'Brien, I can grok.Bars, fighting, grumpy priests, Danny Boy - yeah, that's authentic, like green beer or corned beef and cabbage. As good as Picard's French accent - quite authentic. How about some Pogues, Stiff Little Fingers, Black 47, Flogging Molly, even U2 - happy Celtic based music? I thought Tom liked rock. One thing I like about other shows -Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones, Aeryn and Crichton, Jadzia Dax and Worf, heck even Fry and Leela - good relationships with main characters. Janeway and...maybe Chakotay, maybe Seven? Really, they aren't "subordinates", at least I thought Chakotay was supposed to be her equal, and Seven really isn't Starfleet or Maquis. Those were the two most popular ones I remember when Voyager first aired.Instead, she gets Michael "delete the wife" Sullivan. It's also a bad juxtaposition after Barclay's virtual Voyager fun. And yes, Spirit Folk is coming up soon in my list....
No offense, LtGarak, but this is AdmiralScreed's watch-thread. He hasn't been here in a while, but he did ask us to keep this thread spoiler-free, and in case he decides to come back I think its fair to preserve that. If you want to give us your impressions of episodes as you watch them, you should start a new thread.
All that Ye Olde Blarney Irish malarkey showed us was that dumbass stereotypes have persisted into the VOY era. Yes they survived WWIII, first contact and interstellar travel!
They have theme worlds. The citizens fake it, and then their children and grand children not completely in on the joke absorb the brand and pass it on down the line... Because what the hell was that new Ireland world that Bev went to to get her Ghost porn?
I find it hard to stop looking at her hair at the expense of almost every other detail in the universe.
