tsq that baby looks HUGE for 6 days! How much did he weigh?

Does he? He was 7lbs 8oz, which is pretty average I think. He's 10 days old today. Maybe it's just that I have small hands and am kind of small myself, so he looks big in comparison! I tried to find pictures of other people holding him, but I all I have so far are my sister and my mom holding him, and they're as small as me. My brother-in-law is 6'2, and Cormac definitely looks small in his hands! Here he is compared to a toddler: baby with his brother at the hospital the day he was born. His brother is 2 1/2...though come to think of it, Liam is a little small for his age...

I know 7lb 8oz is pretty average weight. He was 20.5 inches long (just double checked the text I got after he was born). I have no idea what average baby-length is, though!

I love Roshi's cat.

Agreed, so cute and comfy. And I love cats with all white paws like that.

Went to Napa last weekend and rented a house with my siblings, their spouses, and one other couple. Here are some random pics.

We also celebrated my husband's birthday. This is him contemplating his blackberry red wine sorbet.

I am so jealous of you. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Your husband is so hot.

Gorgeous pics, Kestra! Your hubby looks like a handsome, clean-cut and nice fellow.

I like his shirt. :D

Kestra, lovely pics of Napa, and your husband is cute. :)

Indeed, looked sunny and warm .

Thanks guys! Yeah, the weather was perfect.

Then you'll love this pic of him harassing my brother.

Both of my cats are half-Siamese. They've promoted themselves Co-Emperors around here. I and the dog are just plebes for their amusement. :p

My dad found a baby bird that couldn't fly:

After some searching, we could see the nest, and could hear the mother, so we just set the little bird next to some leafy plants and gave it some water, hoping the mother will find it. We're also hoping none of the neighborhood cats make a visit today.

^Great shots! I love seeing pictures of abandoned places. One of these days I want to hunt a few places like that sown and take some photos.

I'm still slowly going through photos I took on my trip to Italy a few years back and came across this one.

It was taken at the top of the staircase of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I thought it was very interesting just because you can see how worn down the stairs have become from all of the foot traffic it has seen over the centuries.

That is cool. :techman:

Well, the last Polaris, Polaris 26, came and went last weekend. (The organization will continue, though - we're doing a relaxacon next July and a Doctor Who con in November.) I've been tagged in a few photos on Facebook, so I snagged copies.

Traditionally, on the Thursday night, members of our committee go out for sushi. I'm farthest from the camera in this shot:

Our awards ceremony, the Constellations, was shifted from Saturday to Friday night this year. I stage manage the ceremony, and usually walk through portions of the ceremony with the presenters as they arrive. Here I am, on the left, with Gay Rowan and Robin Ward - two of the stars of the Canadian science fiction TV show from the 1970s, The Starlost:

ConstellationsTechRunthrough.jpg

(For Canadians of a certain age, yes, that's the same Robin Ward who was a weatherman on CTV, and who also narrated the 1980s Twilight Zone.)

I don't know if there are any shots of me with any other presenters, but if there are, I will post them. Funny story: a couple of hours before the ceremony, there was a call on the radio: "Robin has arrived." Now, I'd noticed Robin and Gay in the lobby Starbucks earlier in the day, but hadn't introduced myself, so I thought I'd better go and meet them. Then it hit me: Robin Dunne (from the show Sanctuary) was this year's host. Dilemma: which Robin was I looking for? Turned out it was Robin Dunne, looking very snazzy. I met him, introduced myself, and took him to the ballroom. On the way, I told him about my confusion over which Robin I was looking for. He was amused.

Another amusing Robin Dunne story: two years ago, he lost for Best Male Performance in a TV Episode by one vote. Ajay Fry and Teddy Wilson, hosts of a show on the Space Channel called InnerSpace, teased him mercilessly, going so far as to present him with a "consolation Constellation" made of Bristol board and macaroni last year. We usually inform the winners ahead of time so that they can arrange for an acceptor or send a thank you message on video, since they usually aren't physically present at the con. Well, this year Robin had actually won - but we didn't tell him. :D Even better - Ajay and Teddy were the presenters of the category. Check out this video, from the 1:55 mark (though slightly before that there's some very cool stuff with two Daleks):

Proving that I'm a caffeine addict, here I am in a Tim Hortons at 2:30 in the morning with my good friend ChrinFinity:

TimHortons.jpg

(Actually, it being 2:30 in the morning, I was drinking decaf... shhh. ;) )

As I was part of the Programming department for 10 of the previous 11 years, and the other year I was a chair of the con, I seldom got to go to the dance. This year, I did. I was innocently enjoying myself when a friend came up behind me and started humping my leg, and within about a minute it turned into a conga line. I'm in the orange t-shirt (proving that, contrary to the Tim Hortons photo, my hair is not grey - it just looks that was under fluorescent light):

And here are two shots from Closing Ceremonies. In the first one, most of our committee is visible. I'm sitting on the edge of the stage on the left hand side (stage right) in a pale blue t-shirt:

Another, closer shot:
