I did a quick google news search on "star trek khan" and couldn't help noticing that only fanboy sites have picked up this "story." Star Trek is a big name in movies. Why isn't in in more mainstream news sites yet? LA Times, NY Times, CNN...When Nikki Finke yells TOLDJA! IT'S KHAN! then I will believe it. Not before.

Wikipedia says its been confirmed (just above References!). What more do you want?
I've got a real good feeling that Nimoy is going to be in Star Trek 2. I'm 99.9% sure that if they ask him he'll do it. Especially after tonight.

Roll your eyes at me all you like, but you'd be surprised how many people don't realize that Wikipedia, IMDb and Memory Alpha are not definitive information sources. I'm a school librarian. I meet children, parents and teachers every day that do not know this, or chose to not remember it, esp. when assignments are overdue.

If students are using Memory Alpha for assignments, education has become a lot more Trek-centered these days.
I've still yet to see *real* official confirmation of Khan, and I just cannot see BC in that role, not looking the way he does in the set pics. I can believe Khan will be in it, but not played by BC. I still think the set pics suggest BC is more likely playing Gary Mitchell or Captain Garth or somebody like that - or even one of Khan's followers who deposes his leader.
Off-the-wall thought though - I caught Squire Of Gothos today and a line about Gothos having "constant volcanic eruptions" leapt out at me, skipping a synapse right to the thing about Spock in a "Volcano suit"

You never know. Months ago there was a list that supposedly had the villain on it (Mudd, Talosians, Horta, the Squire, and some others -- not Khan). That list may have been a crock, or it may have been real. Also around that time, the predominant rumor was Khan was NOT in the movie. The Khan IS in the movie rumor out there now may be the biggest piece of disinformation foisted on the public since the USSR and its Soviet propaganda machine collapsed.
Also, the Squire could look like anything he wanted to. He could even have a Starfleet shirt and sideburns (just as Q liked wearing a Starfleet uniform).
To that end, if Cumberbatch is Khan, I'm still more puzzled about the character's Starfleet sideburns than I am concerned about whether or not Cumberbatch is the "proper" ethnicity to be Khan.

I think your warning is well made actually. I mean I knew about the potential for inaccuracy at places like Wikipedia too, but seeing something that blatant did still shock me a bit. I was just being a clever-bottom.
By the way, I liked your fugly fighter post too, especially when Cumberbatch clearly isn't ugly. A little exotic in a good way at most.

Are you going fishing? That's some can of worms you've got there.There won't be "official confirmation" any time soon of information the studio doesn't want out there. That means nothing.
I'm not Sikh either, but I doubt being pasty white, that I could pass for one.

It'd be funny if we were all being punked....yeah, no it wouldn't.
What everyone knows is that Cumberbatch is pasty white, and like me, couldn't pass for Mexican, let alone Sikh.
I still don't like Khan in the movie period....but on that point I'm not really bothered, they're actors after all.
