What would you do with $100 million?

No no, you have to pay to have his clothes tailored just a tiny bit off so that he doesn't know what's going on but finds it infuriating.

I think he might mean that of you had $100 million you might be able to pay for a really good rehab program for your brother.

Nope. Five tries, five failures. I'm quite done.

My girlfriend and my cousins are the people I'd want to help now.

I'd do the typical things of paying off my debt and that of close family. Do a couple of sensible renovations to current house. Buy a new car. Probably buy one or two investment properties. Give some to charity, blah, blah, blah...

The most ridiculous thing I want would be to own one of my favourite military aircraft and at the top of that list is the F-14 Tomcat. Have no idea how possible that would be or even if it would be cheap enough to warrant purchase and it is very unlikely that it would fly, but my boyhood dream would be satisfied with just having it...not sure where I'd put it. Simplest thing would be to loan it to an museum for them to look after day-to-day.

Crush my enemies, see dem driven before me, an hear duh lamendayshuns of duh women.

If we're talking $100 million free and clear, I would divide it up like this:

- 20 million to invest for the future.
- 20 million split amongst charities and research projects I support.
- 20 million divided amongst my family.
- 20 million for purchase of properties including a mansion, vacation home, yacht, cars, etc.
- 20 million to live a life of luxury, leisure, learning, travel, and never having to work for anyone ever again. I would do all the things I always wanted to do but never had the time or money to do.

Sounds sensible. Also, boring. :D ;)

One of the research projects I support is a death ray.
Maybe this guy would be willing to work on it.

Finally develop a mini-giraffe.
:techman:

Alternatively, buy all of Holdfast's favorite clothiers and change their focus to off-the-rack only. ;)

That's evil. I like it.

If I had $100M, I would....
~Move someplace where the weather is nice and is fairly outdoorsey.... maybe Moab, UT.
~Buy a house.
~Get a dog.
~Help out my best friend
~Help out my family.
~Quit my job and find something I enjoy doing.

Oh yeah, gloat to my ex about it. And send her email pics of me and the GF at all the places in Europe she's always wanted to go to (her dream places to visit).

But I would buy something for her, I'd get a t-shirt made that says "My ex went to Europe and and all I got was this t-shirt that he wiped his ass with.".

I would LOVE to be one of those anonymous people that pays off customers' Christmas bills. I'd like to walk into some big store (like a grocery store or a Target), hand out gift cards (with high dollar amounts) to people and then just walk out again.

That is one of the things I'm hoping I'll be able to do in a few years. That sounded like so much fun when I heard it on the radio this last year.

Open my own private equity firm or start a hedge fund.

You two are deliciously evil.

I'd also have his favorite shoemakers suddenly stop making his size and recall all of their shoes in that size that have not been sold yet.

My list...

1. $5 million to my mother's church to remodel the entire facility to be fully ADA compliant.
2. $5 million to my brother's church (he's a preacher) to set up a matching contribution fund to match contributions to their building fund for as long as the money lasts.
3. $5 million to the church I'm attending to do with as they desire.
4. $5 million to Phoenix Children's Hospital in my Dad's name for whatever they need
5. $5 million in contributions to scholarship funds at Wabash College (in my Dad's name) and Northern Arizona University
6. Purchase/build my dream home.
7. Pay off any of my mother's outstanding debts and buy her a new car.
8. Set up college funds for all of the my kids, nieces, and nephews.
9. Pick two or three retailers in my area at random every Christmas that have layaway, walk in, and pay everyone's layaway bills.
10. Purchase a new Cadillac CTS-V and a new Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram, or F-150 extended cab pickup with an 8ft bed for myself.
11. Purchase a bunch of collector cars.
12. Invest approximately $50 million in growth stock mutual funds with track records of at least 10 years.

Hmmm....

$30 Million to various charity organizations.

$20 Million to invest

$20 Million to my friends and family, to do whatver they wish with it

$20 Million to finance the Ayrton Senna biopic my roomate and I always say that one day, when we have enough power in Hollywood, that we will make.

$10 Million for a house....AND the only thing I would REALLY want of of all of this, a slate grey Aston Martin DBS sitting in my driveway.

All the usuals, pay off all my parent's debts (and give them quite a bit more), give loads of money to my uncles/aunts/cousins (trust funds for most of them), give loads to my brothers, and to my friends. (About £30 mil on this-- or $38.6mil--).

Then, with £45.3($70)mil on...

~£20 Mil to charities (that I'd reasearch and then carefully selected).
~£3 Mil on house/car/super amazing computer/laptop/posh things. (I'd only want a house of about £1 Mil... what would I do with all that useless empty space? :p).
~About £50000 for learning the piano again (I'm trying to teach myself again at the moment), and the guitar. I really want to play these, and at least I'd be making good use of my time.
~Try to get myself signed to a record label. I really want to write, sing and play music, and this would tie in nicely with above point.
~What J. said. I'd LOVE to go round giving other people lots of money and see the looks on their faces.
~The rest into savings.

And I'd still carry on with college and uni. I'd hate to be rich, but not aspire to do anything more with education/ my life.

If I had $100 million I would;
Pay off all the bills and debts. Put some aside for my kids. Try to make my folks house safer or at least pay for them to move into a nice assisted living place so they would be safer. Give some to charities. Add a second bathroom to the house and do some remodeling to make it more energy efficient. Fix our vehicles. Find my dream car and get it. Start a scholarship. Give some to the youth groups in the area. Open a place where kids could hang out. Take the family on a couple of vacations to areas I've always wanted to go.

Other than that, I'd put some aside for retirement :bolian:

That's 99 million for retirement. ;)

I have a pretty big extended family and a few really close friends. I'd share the wealth.

I would also donate generously to worthy charities (and by worthy, I mean charities that don't get looted for "administrative costs." :klingon:) Probably not too many of those out there, but there should be a few.

I'd build a nice "green" house for myself, attached garage -- nothing ostentatious. Energy-efficient everything.

And I would TRAVEL!

With a 100 mil?

- pay off all debts (D'uh)
- build my dream house according to my wishes and needs in a good spot with a nice green area around and then kit it out with some cool furniture and other gadgets
- buy a nice car and rent an insane car from time to time to fulfill my Need for Speed desires
- set up my closest friends financially and give my parents unlimited access to the money

I figure that would be the first 10 million (house being the biggest factor in this budget).

Then take as much money as needed to cover my running costs and have a comfortable extra to spend by investing the money safely.

The rest (gotta be at least 50 mil left) i'd look to invest in some charity or where the money would do the most good i guess.

So basically.. nothing out of the extraordinary.
