Terra Nova season one 09/26/11:

The problem with the whole linear connection through the portal is that at no point has it actually been shown to be linear. The difference in time between the different Pilgrimages going through versus the amount of time between their arrivals has been different since day one, sometimes even during a single pilgrimage. For example, Taylor arrived 118 days before the rest of the First Pilgrimage, even though they all left at about the same time.

It was claimed that hat next guy was one step behind Taylor.

Imagine your first pooh.

I'm assuming you can't recall it happening of course.

I'm guessing considering how ticktock they have the portal running now, that it was the human tech manipulating the rift than the rift itself being unbridled.

Besides, having portals connect to other eras means we can see Nazis! Imagine Taylor and an SS officer each riding a Triceratops charging towards each other. Then they jump off their steeds and start beating the shit out of each other.

So cool.
If I ever write a TV show, I need to remember to always leave an opening for the Nazis to show up.

I think the 2149 side is linear and could have existed for hundreds of years and thus some things through out our history may have acidentaly gone through. The rift on on the Terra Nova side is not as linear (think TNG's Barzan Wormhole but with time ) so the ship mast may have only come to Terra Nova 100 years ago where it it may have left in the 1700's. I think the Hope Plaza techs just found a way to tweak the connection to keep the portal the Terra Nova side syncronized with 2149.

...And 'The Badlands' ?? Come one Braga a little originality here. whats next are they going to call the beach near Terra Nova, Risa or something. LOL

To be fair, the name Badlands did not originate in Trek, nor was it Braga who gave Trek's Badlands its name.

Oh I know that, but him being a major producer/writer of Star Trek you think we would have been like, let use another name lol. I know Braga had limited involvment with DS9 but Rene had a major involvement with it. Considering the audience is largly sci-fi fans they knew people would pick up on that, maybe it was meant has an homage to Star Trek. :)

Besides, if the fracture WASN'T to 2149, why would Mira and the surviving Phoenix Group people bother even going? Escape is one thing, but would they be any better off in 1849 than 2149? I figure they either brought their portal along with them (nothing was said of it) or were going there to wait for their sponsors to build an equivalent to Hope Plaza and start over again. Either way they're out of Terra Nova's hair for the time being, but I think the future-is-out-to-get-us plotline would hardly be abandoned after being so much of the show's first season.

Mark
100 men armed with weapons and knowledge from 2149 could do some major damage in the 19th/18th century.

Also, I think that the rift always existed but something with the particle accelerator at Hope Plaza anchored it and stabilized it so it could be detected and studied.

Yea, I just finished watching it a second time (Distracted the first time) and definitely they say Hope Plaza anchored it

Is it really any different than having a character named Nurse Ogawa?

It is the only explanation that makes any bit of sense as to why old artifacts appear in the Badlands.

Upcoming movie from the wonderful folks at The Asylum:

Nazis at the Center of the Earth

Researchers in Antarctica are abducted by a team of masked storm troopers. They are dragged deep underground to a hidden continent in the center of the earth. Here Nazi survivors, their bodies a horrifying patchwork of decaying and regenerated flesh, are planning for the revival of the Third Reich.

So it's Zombie Nazis? Or is that Nazi Zombies?

Just as well they killed Kara, if it leads to some character growth for Josh (guilt for bringing her over). He finally understood his father's lashing out and dropped that crap.

A question about Phoenix Army and the Sixers. How many females were there? You got 100 young men....and how many women? Possibly stuck forever in the past? The colony better guard their women and girls.

Since Taylor's force was unisex I assume the Phoenix Army is too. We've seen several female Sixers, yes?

Or we might come to realise that he's a sociopath because he doesn't bat an eyelid or ever mention her again.

He was working for the Sixers stealing medical supplies from his mother.

For the good of the community he needs to be thrown outside the wall.

Taylor has females in his security force. There was Lt Washington (who apparentally served with Taylor for several years before Terra Nova) and also Corporal Riley, the explosives specialist who disarmed the bomb in the forest and gave Jim instructions on how to set the bomb to take down Hope Plaza.

Phoenix Army I think is largely male. Mira seems to be the only prominent female among the Sixers, though I think other episodes have shown a few more as background extras.

The sixers were mercs. Best of the scum.

Phoenix was Private industry. They just assumed that they could sell more big burly knuckle dragging thugs than... People in these positions are tasked from two fields. People so problematic they're kicked out of the regular military, and people so psychotic they have SURVIVED the regular military (Think about those "Heros" who would pass the psychiatic exams to sign up to consecutive tours of duty up to a point.) and dopjn't want to go back to reality, so in either case does that sound like "most" women who would sign up to the military?

Maybe there was a draft and women were not exempt?

Phoenix is sexist?
