I think it's quite a poor render really, with sloppy textures and crappy lighting....
I think its a fair bet (if this is the actual cover) that the Galaxy-class ship is the Robinson, although its registry is odd at NCC-17842... and what kind of ship is that heading into (or coming out of...) the wormhole?![]()
I thought the Robinson was a Nebula-class ship... or am I completely misremembering?
Also, the ship entering the wormhole appears to be one of the Defiant's shuttlecraft, like the Chaffee.

I just checked Rough Beasts of Empire, and the Robinson is indeed Galaxy-class. You must be thinking of the New York, the Nebula-class vessel that Sisko commanded during the Borg Invasion as seen in Chapter 2.

If so, then its size has been exaggerated enormously (or else it's just between the camera and the wormhole rather than actually entering it).
Perhaps it is the perspective, but have the sections connecting DS9's habitat ring to the docking ring always sloped downwards?

It does say it's not the final cover. My understanding of CG imagery is that the preliminary version always looks cruder than the final render.
Even if you look at the amateur CGI community, there is work being done that would put some pro's to shame.

This type of comment gets said a lot. So, is their work better because they spend so much time on that one piece of art so as to not make it profitable if they were trying to meet a publisher's tight deadlines?
'Cos if they really are that talented, why can't they get an agent and go into it professionally?
I wish these people could get paying jobs in that sector. Mind you, it's completely possible that they don't want to work in that sector, and keep their hobby a hobby.
And seriously, why would anyone expect a work in progress to look perfect? Nobody has any patience anymore.
I'm also trying to figure out what ship is coming out of the Wormhole myself. Don't look like a shufflecraft at all.
