and i said 'a bed'. but as noted above, Shade cheerfully slept on top of the fridge with nothing on it. we only found out when we came in one morning and were like, 'where's the cat? chairs, no. table, obviously not.' then she sat up, behind the toaster, jumped down into the window and then out of the window and yawped for food.

Well as long as we're on the cat theme...
Here are my two when they were kitten.
This is the first stray kitten we took in while living in Bucharest. Gimli is patiently tolerating her presence.
The second stray cat we took in being fed by my wife. She didn't really need to be bottle fed but we had leftover kitten formula from the last one so we figured we'd use it up.
And here's me with the last stray we took in. She looked very similar to our other two cats and was in the best shape of all three we took in. I would really have liked to have kept her.

Jack likes to sleep on the desk, even though he knows he's not allowed to. 
And they don't care. In fact, they'll give you a look that says: "Yeah. You're right. I just went there. What are you gonna do about it, puny human?"
