Star Trek XII New Information Thread

for the last week we had something new to talk about almost every day. I hope it stays that way until shooting starts.

so does anyone know who the villian in the new movie will be?
No. But a lot of people assume it's Khaaa-aaaaaaaaan!!!! because a latin american actor was supposed to play the villain. A few movie websites stated the Kaaaaa-aaaaaaaaa-aaaaannnn!!!! rumors as fact which lead to more people believe it will be Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnn!!!!

More accurately, two movie blogs - Vulture and Latino Review - claim to have insider information confirming that the villain is Khaaaaaaaaaan!
the times when LR offered reliable informations are sadly long gone. they had way more misses than hits in the last few years.

If you say so. "Stating rumors as fact" is nonetheless a complete mischaracterization of their claim. Vulture?

I have to admit, the idea of seeing the Enterprise fly towards the screen in 3D does sound pretty damn cool.

How are we supposed to know? Abrams is well-known for keeping a tight lid on things. They haven't even started filming yet.

I have no idea, I don't visit that site (Vulture) very often and frankly don't kow about their hit/miss quota.

But I do know that LR were wrong about a bunch of things they reported (and were they said to had insider information) about most of the Marvel Studio movies, Skyfall (back when it was still Bond 23 and it wasn't 100% sure if the movie was made at all) and if I recall correctly they spread a few rumours of The Dark Knight Rises and Prometheus which now, with more information about those movies, are very unlikely to be true.

Personally I have the rule that if the info doesn't come via Variety or Deadline Hollywood, I'll take it with a big heap of salt.

Do you want ST movies to stay competitive in the current marketplace?

It depends on what "competitive" means.

Are you suggesting likely viewers won't go to see it if it's only released in 2-D?

Or is it that exaggerated 3-D ticket prices are now necessary for any film to be seen as financially successful?

It could be a crossover movie involving the Prime Universe which would also act as a reminder that this isn't the real Star Trek.
