Penn State will probably lose their next three games with their anemic offense.
Yep. And that one loss came from -- You guessed it -- Bama! Also - the greatest coach in football (and second greatest in sports) has Penn State as the quietist 1-loss team in the country. Hard part's coming up though.

Its not like its actually being played on the Third Saturday anymore! My one fear with Missouri joining the SEC is that the Third Saturday in October might come to an end if Auburn moves East, and that would be terrible.![]()
Beating Kentucky's a forgone conclusion, but a Vol victory over Vandy is a far from certain proposition. They outplayed the Hogs for all but about five mintues Saturday. If they score a TD instead of fumbling, it never comes down to the ultimately missed field goal. This ain't your father's Vandy.Considering the state of the season for Tennessee, I only have one thing to look forward to (well, there's beating Vanderbilt and the requisite beating of Kentucky):
Hell, if JoePa's gonna get credit for winning games he's not really coaching, can I add the victories from the Perkins-Stallings-Dubose stints at Bama to Bryant's total? Throw in Stallings and Sherrill's wins at A&M as well. Paterno's hung on like grim death long enough to pass Robinson now, time to give it up. It's just sad.Yep. Part of the whole hold-up with Missouri coming in, particularly with Alabama not voting in favor, was to ensure rivalries stay intact. The scout team may not wear orange jerseys and white helmets with orange "T"s on them, but for the old guard Alabama fans, the Tennessee game is too important to risk giving up on an annual basis. They see it as bigger than the Auburn game.My one fear with Missouri joining the SEC is that the Third Saturday in October might come to an end if Auburn moves East, and that would be terrible.![]()

Most speculation I've heard has Mizzou going to the east and Alabama-Tennessee returning to the Third Saturday. The SEC schedule goes from eight to nine games, so one less non-conference opponent.
So, you're saying the annual Alabama-Tennessee game should end? Vol fan tired of the beatings, perhaps?![]()
Tennessee needs to be forced to play decent teams. They got Montana, Buffalo, and Middle Tennessee this year and next year they're scheduled to play Akron, Georgia State and Troy...
I just looked at who Georgia is playing next year and I take that back...
Me? Oh, hell no.So, you're saying the annual Alabama-Tennessee game should end? Vol fan tired of the beatings, perhaps?![]()
They're still putting together potential schedules, but its conceivable that they continue playing 8 game conference schedules in the short term before moving to 9 games.Which teams do they break contracts with when Missouri and Texas A&M enter the picture? Arkansas & A&M already had games scheduled, so that's not a problem.
Why do you see this as being a problem? That still leaves Texas A&M with having to be scheduled at least 7 more SEC teams then.
That was a fear of Bowden's. That it might be in the back of JoePa's mind wouldn't be a surprise.Hell, if JoePa's gonna get credit for winning games he's not really coaching, can I add the victories from the Perkins-Stallings-Dubose stints at Bama to Bryant's total? I dunno. People said he should give it up once beating Bowden's win total was assured, but he doesn't seem to have any interest in slowing down. If Joe's own players would stop running him over he'd be (slowly) prowling the sidelines still.
Besides, at this point he'll probably die within months of stepping down like Bear did.![]()
That generation's dying off, they came of age during the break between 1907 and 1947, though you'll run across a younger fan who feels similarly. For me, I tend to come to the Tennessee game with a greater sense of nostalgia and respect. Against Auburn, the fear of a loss-for fans on both sides-swamps every other emotion.Lieut. Arex wrote:

While pretty awesome, I'm honestly shocked. I thought the Iron Bowl really was the live-or-die game for all Bammers.

I'd wager a lot of the contracts won't be broken, just spread out. Western Kentucky will be just as happy with their @$1,000,000 check to come to T-town, tour the Bryant Museum, have some Dreamland ribs, and get beat by four+ TDs in 2015 as they would've in 2012.Which teams do they break contracts with when Missouri and Texas A&M enter the picture?
