Normally I avoid set photos and such like the plague, but I've done the opposite with this production for some reason. :ouch:

I think the fact that part of the filming was done here has pushed my interest level to what it is. Don't get me wrong, I was already looking forward to this movie long before the announcement was made that Marvel Studios had decided to shoot in Cleveland over Detroit.

But having the production here in our back yard... That's just been too cool. The more I saw of the sets, the more I wanted to see what it's going to actually look like on film.

Thor's been seen all over the location shooting. Generally speaking, though, Iron Man is accomplished through CGI, so Robert Downey, Jr., doesn't need to be there for action sequences.

Have actors gotten better at staring into the blank space where a CGI character will go, say over the past decade?

And we might not see a lot of Stark as Iron Man. Recall that at the end of IM2, Stark was turned down for active membership on the team and was instead offered a consultant's position. That might be why we have seen and heard of footage with Stark, but none with Iron Man. Stark will probably have to prove his way onto the team, just in time for the dramatic climax.

Iron Man's realised partly by a practical suit and partly by CGI. that was shown in 2 with the donut set photo.

Except for the fact that the consultation obviously grew into recruiting agent as we saw a little later on at "The Incredible Hulk". "Iron Man 2" was a test of character for Tony, one we saw him grow from the selfish, arrogant, egotistical man basking in his own glory into something we all know his potential can be by the end of it. It seemed pretty clear to me from the teaser we saw that Tony is at least very interactive with his team mates. I doubt though he will have any kind of leadership right off the bat, I'm guessing that Tony will grow into the leadership role. As will Thor and Steve as they work together with the others.

Any word on villains they might be considering for a sequel? I would say Ultron, but his origin tends to be tied to Hank Pym (and also the Vision)....Kang maybe? Not sure about time travel stuff...The Leader was hinted in Incredible Hulk, but he's only really fought the Avengers a few times (In Hulk's own comics).

It's practically all they do nowaday's

MoCap's suit's are the norm. I remember behind the scene's footage from "Jurassic Park".

A cardboard cut out of a dino's head on a stick was the reference point for actors.

Tony's role in The Incredible Hulk will be expanded upon in the Coulson short (appropriately titled "The Consultant"), to be released with the Thor DVD.

    ^ Indeed.

It's far too early to be speculating on "Avengers 2" villains IMO.

One last picture to toss in here. Although filming on 9th Street was completed at this point, they still hadn't really begun to remove all the fake debris and wrecked vehicles. I particularly like this image:

^ Sadly no, which is strange. You'd think something would have cropped up. I guess Marvel is locking down everything significant regarding "Avengers".
