Today's PD reports that filming began on the Public Square set last night, with extras running screaming out of the Terminal Tower. The square has been reset to resemble a 'modern beer garden' in Stuttgart. I'm going back down tonight, and with any luck, will see some of the real action being filmed.

you missed a German cop car getting flipped last night.

We just got back from Stuttgart, er, make that Public Square, dressed up as to pass as Der Deutschland. I wanted to get a few pix posted before calling it a night - more will follow.
First, a look at the fake marquee and street signs on and around the old Higbee's Building:
And here, we have a German bus-stop:
Most of the pictures we took were between 7:00 and about 7:45 P.M. Shortly after 8:00, they closed off the entrances to Tower City (the Terminal Tower) and began moving people away from the Square itself.

And supposedly a Russian stronghold somewhere, but I still haven't heard or figured out where that is. I think that's going to be done in a location that's outside of Cleveland itself, but I could be wrong.

The more set photos I see the more I am convinced this will be a near perfect mesh of both the 616 Avengers origin and the Ultimates origin. I know I've stated this before, but this continues to be the impression I get. Joss knows his comic stuff and is a fan like us and reads a lot so I wouldn't put it past to take from all incarnations of the Avengers history with his story. I'm really excited.

Joss did say in an interview i read last year, i think it was, that unlike some teams or heroes - like Batman or Superman say - there's no definitive Avengers story so he was going to use bits and pieces from all over, including the Ultimates.
