The midnight release of the final issue of Flashpoint and Justice League #1 along with their variants does seem a tad bit excessive but then this entire New 52 business is excessive in my opinion.
Is it just me or are there others who have been let down by "Flashpoint"? I think this has got to be Geoff Johns worst work and this from a huge fan of his.
Even though I've enjoyed Flashpoint more than Fear Itself (just not interested in the FI premise), I have to admit that my enjoyment has diminished quite a bit the more FP I've read. I think they have an interesting set-up, but the follow-through hasn't been great. Either they haven't taken full advantage of the alternate universe or they are just giving the audience unnecessary tie-ins that have little bearing on the overall narrative. I also find it odd that Flash is playing far too much of a small role in the crossover mega-event that bears his name.
So far I haven't see how this series will elevate Barry; he's barely at the center of events. Batman, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman. Even the Outsider seem to be doing more than him. Granted he recently just got his powers back, but maybe depowering him for three and a half issues of the main FP was a problem from jump.
As it stands for me, there are too many tie-ins. The only ones I think they should've had miniseries were Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, Abin Sur, and Reverse Flash. The rest could've been handled in a World of Flashpoint style anthology, a series of one-shots, or something like that.
