Watched this movie this weekend and there is a hilarious DS9 part that lasts about 10 seconds. I think only people that have been to this forum would get it. Probably the best part of the whole movie, especially since it was only average. Just wanted to put the word out so you guys wouldn't miss it.

Okay, you have to please elaborate, because...

a) I've never seen a DS9 reference in a major motion picture, and would like to know why and how it's done in Larry Crowne
b) I plan on seeing Larry Crowne myself, like, never ever

Hanks co-wrote the movie and he is a big Star Trek fan, an maybe DS9 is his favourite?

Mack (Malcolm Barrett) is standing in front of the class, in uniform.

Mack: This may be beyond comprehension, but, there are many people who dismiss Deep Space Nine in favour for the original or The Next Generation. Altough I too am a fan of both of Roddenberry's visions there is no version of Star Trek I do not enjoy. None. As you can tell by my uniform had I the chance to attend Starfleet Academy I would have studied the life sciences...

The teacher, Mercedes (Julia Roberts) interrupting him, asking the class where Larry Crowne is, then

Mercedes: Mr Mack, please continue on the Star Wars...and the deep space

Mack: I can't..even begin to tell you the difference between Star Trek and Lucas Star Wars saga... it's... Live long and prosper......... (he touch his combadge) energize.

To quote Peter Griffin, that reference is freakin' sweet. The only other reference to DS9 in a film that I know of is in Swingers.

Memory-Alpha mentions that it is Jon Favreaus character who says it, but as you can see, it is Charles played by Alex Desert. Same Desert who later played Jake on the sitcom Becker alongside with Terry Farrell.
