DC to REBOOT???

I personally buy comic books because I enjoy the stories/characters/art..and that is about it:)
I do not really think of what they are worth in 10 years time..or so on(I do generally keep my things well, though:cool:)

I think I will pick up about ten of these "number ones"(JLA, JLI, Supergirl, Batman, Wonder Woman..ect) and see how they are.

Ah, a good solid look at Supes' suit. I can see why they made the belt red. It's supposed to "evoke" the trunks. It doesn't work. They should have made it gold/yellow. Other than that, no real issues with it.

Only one suggested change to WW's costume. Make the boots red. Though I would also prefer the silver accents there to be gold.

Anyone else struck by the idea that the reason Cyborg is getting this bump is in response to the popularity of Ironman?

Which from what I've heard sounds like Team Cyclops = Brotherhood of Evil Mutants with delusions of grandeur, while Team Wolverine = X-men with Wolverine in charge.

:wtf: Really? I've not been keeping up with the X-Men, but... Cyclops as the Magneto-esque figure, really?

Did they forget the whole "I'm going to uphold Xavier's vision even when Xavier himself doesn't live up to it" thing Cyc had going? Ughh... Wolverine beatification... :barf2:

@Starbreaker...inaccurate information there. Marvel is not "dropping" Uncanny X-Men in a response to the DC relaunch. They're doing this as part of their upcoming (and pre-planned) story arc called X-Men: Schism. After Schism concludes there will be two main X-titles....a relaunched "Uncanny X-Men #1" and "Wolverine and the X-Men". The story of Schism features a literal schism between Logan and Scott. I don't know what other titles you are referring to that are getting renumbered.

I didn't think they had planned to renumber before this announcement got out. I'm extremely confused on the X-titles right now anyway. I'm several issues behind. They might just be dropping X-Men Vol. 3.

Jim Lee explained the reasons for the red belt at the Retailer Roadshow.

In the current DCU, Batman wears a yellow belt, Wonder Woman wears a yellow belt, and Superman wears a yellow belt. Standing next to one another, that would be a lot of yellow. For the new costumes, then, the belts were changed in color so they would stand out more when they're together.

One other thing. The collars you see the Justice League wearing are to make the Leaguers look like a team. In their own books, Superman won't have a collar, Hal Jordan won't have a collar. It's just when they're together, as the League, that they'll wear the collared costumes.

Marvel released a promo image for Fear Itself a few months ago with Cyclops in Magneto's costume.

I agree with Hartzilla, I think that's the direction Marvel's going to go -- Cyclops as the more militant X-leader (though, not to the extreme of Magneto), while Logan tries to be the more conciliatory leader (though perhaps a little more pro-active than Xavier). Apparently, Wolverine's sojurn in hell in the pages of Wolverine is supposed to have an effect on his mental state.

So they want them to look less uniform?

Wait, they want them to look more uniform? So everyone changes shirts when they meet up? that's kinda silly.

Edited to add more comments.

Other than the utter moronic stance of "underware over the pants idiots" I find NO need to change his costume at all....

I think the belt would look good if it had both red and gold. I'm glad they finally dropped the goofy trunks, though. He looks good without them.

Is that Zealot in the JLA? You've gotta be fucking kidding me. Hell, let's put Jenny Sparks on the JLI while we're at it. (And actually my mind may be kidding me, as there are other, perhaps more plausible options. It's not my fault Jim Lee has three or four faces.)

And Mera, but no Hawkwoman? Weird choice. But that could be cool. If you're gonna do a married couple, though, Scott Free and Barda is where it's at.

"Element Woman"? Now, I don't have a problem with the concept.

But, firstly, you've already got Firestorm, who is already to a great extent a broken character in the Zatanna/Element Lad/Cosmic King/Spectre vein, and you don't need another reality warper/transmuter. Reminds me of when I was eight and used to play superheroes with my friends and I'd always choose "Franklin Richards," "Phoenix" (Jean or Rachel), or "Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet." I was not fun to play with. Or maybe she's like Metamorpho's sister, whom I believe was Element Girl until Gaiman killed her? Metamorpho and Element Girl were good a way to make a transmutation character who wasn't outrageously overpowered, but Firestorm would constantly overshadow either of them. "Perhaps you can turn your own body into chloral hydrate, Rainie, but I can turn their bodies into a shower of short-lived mesons!"

By the way, is anyone else convinced that Firestorm, despite a master at the helm, is going to be a crappier version of later issues of Solar, Man of the Atom (let that sink in).

And secondly, I initially thought that she was Dr. Light, who is great, and whom I would like to see in a comic that wasn't about her getting attempted raped by the other Dr. Light.

That just seems so bizarre, as though the Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon's worst idea is making it's way into the comics. When you put it that way though, it makes more sense I guess. Seems like hooking up with Emma Frost has changed Scott more than her...

At this point in X-Men continuity, aren't both basically stone-cold, pragmatic killers?

It'd be pretty great if Schism was about something strikingly banal, like land use controls. "WE NEED MORE INDUSTRIAL-ZONED PROPERTY, SCOTT." [snikt] "IT REDUCES THE QUALITY OF LIFE, LOGAN!" [blast]

The (eventual) full JLA roster...

Glad to see J'onn J'onzz in there.

Except he's not.

That's...

Deadman in the upper left. Martian Manhunter isn't even mentioned in the article. Manhunter will be in a different team.

And I hate that little fact. Just because I'm such a sucker for MM, I buy another team book I'm otherwise not that interested in. How come Deadman and Mera are in, but J'onn, one of the founding members in ANY chronology (yet), is out?

Okay, that's just plain stupid. I've never, not once, thought about that or heared anyone else complain about it. So, Batman wears black and grey, Superman wears blue, red and yellow and WW wears gold, red and dark blue (which is gonna be silver, red and black, apparently). And the belts are the point of wear they stand out?

One other thing. The collars you see the Justice League wearing are to make the Leaguers look like a team. In their own books, Superman won't have a collar, Hal Jordan won't have a collar. It's just when they're together, as the League, that they'll wear the collared costumes.

Okay, this is even more stupid. Since when do superhero teams have to wear uniforms? Sure, some do, but neither the Justice League, nor the Avengers have ever worn uniforms. Neither have the Teen Titans, or Stormwatch, or the Authority. Even the X-Men wore individual costumes, most of the time.
And even if we say yay to uniforms, the collars are such a lousy little detail, for those who like uniformity they're useless, while the traditionalists simply dislike them.

And, seriously, Cyborg only made the team because he was on SV.

I don't get the need to have the Justice League wear uniforms or similar costumes. The coolness of the concept is all of these individual heroes coming together to work as a team, so they should keep their individuality.

As for Cyborg, disagree. He was already a Justice League briefly. And he is supposed to be the main character/Superman of the current Flashpoint storyline, even though DC has a funny way of showing it, not giving him a solo FP miniseries or the reboot solo series, though the miniseries is supposed to be upping his profile. Also he's been a key member of the Teen Titans for decades and been on the Superfriends and Teen Titans cartoon, so I think his profile is bigger than Smallville (though the Smallville appearances were cool).
