Star Wars: Question on ROTS?

I'm sure he existed since it was mentioned that he was killed some ten years before the events of Ep. II. I'm sure he was killed to prevent him from telling the Jedi about the clone army.

I second the motion.

I'm watching the prequel trilogy again today and there must be deleted scenes in it because I don't remember the scene with Anakin and Obiwan talking after Anakin is allowed on the Jedi council and Anakin says to Obiwan why are you asking me to go against the laws of the Jedi and the Republic when asked to spy on Palpitine.

That has always been in the film. The film has never been aired with deleted scenes attached ( and without them you're not really missing anything anyway IMHO ).

Looks like they're kind of redoing a sequence from the original cell-animated miniseries.

Not for the first time.

The story of Dooku and Sifo-Dyas is largely told in one of the Essential Guides. I think it was the Essential Guide to the Force.

In an earlier draft of the script, "Sifo-Dyas" was actually "Sido-Dyas" (Sidious/Palpatine, of course) and was unknown to the Jedi.

According to the EU, Dooku manipulated Sifo-Dyas into ordering the army. Dooku then killed him, erased the files on Kamino, left the order and hired Jango as the Prime clone host.

As for Grievous's body vs. Vader's, he's an alien and also I think there was less of him to save.

In the EU, Dooku didn't find out about the order until Sidious told him it had already taken place. It is implied that Sidious may have manipulated Sifo-Dyas into ordering the army, but it is never explicitly stated. The rest is correct.

there was a clone war comic special which dealt with dooku and sifo-dyas and sifo was in a stassis chamber at the end of said issue. I just don't recall said issue.
all so can't wait for the blu ray. I am sure they will incorperate all the deleated sceans back into the movie like they did with the lotr trilogy.

did they ever address the usage of the clones and treating them like meat sacks?

how were the clones superior to the droids? droids are more resilient, can withstand extreme temperatures and are much easier to produce. i guess clones are more creative, but i just saw some commando droids in the cartoon and wow, the commando droids were tearing the clones up.

Here's how clones could be superior to droids, but you'd have to be a bad guy to use them like this: just make clones of the people you're fighting, as many as you can (assuming magic InstaGrow(TM) cloning technology). The enemy forces might still mow down clones that are the same species as them, or even are them, genetically, but I'll bet it would be an effective psychological weapon. At the very least, it's worth a try.

Makes me wonder, has anyone written a sci fi novel with this angle? There's probably something obvious that's not coming to mind...

that makes no sense.

so they're going to clone count dooku, grevious and the viceroy?

havent you seen the deleted scenes yet? they're on youtube afaik

Haven't you asked about the comparison between droids and clones before? Temis didn't say anything in her post about cloning the bad guys. Temis was simply saying you would have to be a bad guy to use them in her suggestion. She was positing an idea.

I would suggest listening to the commentary track for II. Lucas touches on the comparison of the clones and droids.

Clone Storm Troopers were actually not a concept that originated with the prequels. Zahn pretty much started using them in his novels, although the cloning technique used in his trilogy differs considerably. Of course, they are being used by the true bad guys this time-a desperate Empire that is low on troops.

Technically, the prequel DVDs are already extended editions-There's a few shots added to the Pod Race in TPM, an added line of dialogue to Anakin's angry rant in AOTC, and a few editing tweaks in ROTS.

As for deleted scenes, there's plenty of prequel ones available on the DVDs but not a lot from the OT apart from the Tatooine footage that was included on a CD-rom several years ago. That being said, the new blu-rays apparentally will contain some of the deleted material as extras, such as Luke constructing his saber and being contacted by Darth Vader from ROTJ. I'm hoping the Wampa footage from ESB gets included.

where's that found? i don't want to listen to the whole commentary?

I don't remember the specific time index...probably near the end of the movie where the clones are introduced. He also talks about the clone/storm trooper evolution in one of the original trilogy audio commentaries, probably the Empire one.

ok cool so it's ep2?

do you know where i can find the commentary online without breaking copyright?

Nope. I just listen to them on DVD. I love commentary tracks. It's either on the Episode II commentary or the Empire Strikes Back. He talks extensively about the clones for a few minutes.

Star Wars: Is it possible to watch the prequels before the originals?

i have a couple weeks off soon so i'm pondering what i can look forward to.

ok, here's my situation: i saw the original trilogy when i was a young kid, an age of around, 7 or 8. i can barely remember them or any scenes at all. recently, i've been spending time watching the prequels, and especially, ROTS. with this in mind, is it possible for me to go back and watch the originals with my 'blank slate' after watching the ultra modern and CGI'ed prequels? how do the originals hold up now?

or would it just be impossible to watch something with such archaic visual effects after watching something with spectacular visual effects?

thanks

Re: Star Wars: Is it possible to watch the prequels before the origina

Well the older sfx will be offset by actual writing and acting, so it might work...

Re: Star Wars: Is it possible to watch the prequels before the origina

Is this a joke?

The originals are absolute classics. Some of the finest sci-fi/fantasy films ever made. They hold up spectacularly, and always will, because they are timeless.

The prequels are mostly garbage. A really lame plot only in existence to service the ridiculous amount of CGI.
