Star Wars: Question on ROTS?

i was thinking earlier and have another question.

does anyone know why the viceroy welcomed anakin into his room at the end of ep3? i mean he tried to assassinate padme, anakin's love, and even tried to feed them to animals in front of millions of people.

how could he forget that?

He didn't exactly welcome him. And he didn't know it was Anakin either.

OMG. It's explained why the Viceroy GREETED Anakin in that scene in the movie. The holographic message of Darth Sidious instructed them to await the arrival of his new apprentice, Darth Vader. The Separatists had no idea who the hell Vader was or what to expect when he got there. Anakin took care of him for what he did to Padme didn't he?

i know why he was greeted. i just don't understand how he didn't recognise anakin.

in any case, it seemed strange to only have those B1 battle droids as security for the highest level of the Separatist leaders.

It wasn't strange. They Separatists were puppets of Palpatine in the first place, they were meant to be a means to the end and the end of course was the creation of the Empire. There was a reason for everything in the prequels. If you paid attention to the films while watching them it explains its self.

there was all so the fact that annie was all so changing into a sith as well which probably changed his physical appearence. since he was a hero of the republic and well known public figure.

There wasn't enough of a physical change that Anakin isn't still recognizable. No they didn't probably recognize him as Anakin Skywalker because he had his hood up and then immediately proceeded to kill them all in a blaze of fury. It was all over in less than five minutes for the Separatists.

They actually recognize him in Stover's novel. Of course that adds a lot to the scene that wasn't needed, such as Anakin delivering several cornball quips. ("He promised us peace!" "He promised you'll be pieces" or something like that)

Again though having actual security to protect people that you're eliminating and were always going to eliminate once they served their purpose doesn't make sense. Also...if security is a big concern why aren't they on their home plants instead of a out of the way volcano planet? Answer: because Palps always wanted them dead and gone after he was done with them.

Too bad Ackbar wasn't around. He could have alerted them to the trap.

Right, I wasn't saying Palpatine would have given them droidekas and such, I was saying they probably should have had extra security by their own design.

Except that they'd been depicted throughout the trilogy (especially the Neimodians) as being stupid and incompetent people who basically put their entire trust in entities they didn't bother to research or find any information about (even if there wasn't any they should have done their due diligence regarding Sidious). Palpatine knew this about them and why he probably recruited them into his little plan for the galaxy in the first place. The Sith prey on the weak, and this group was weak. They were the ultimate dupes.

I don't know if they did or didn't do their research. I'm simply going by what we were shown of their relationship with him on the screen. Of course it's possible they did research off screen, I doubt it though. They were desperate enough in their situation that I would assume they would agree to a partnership with anyone who was even remotely powerful enough to promise a resolution to their situation. Not to mention increase their own power and influence in the Senate as well.

I will say that Rune Hakko? Seems to be the only one who doesn't like the partnership with Sidious. I'm sure there were others on their board who became wary.

oh ok. yah, i'd love to read a book that details the story more. i heard a droideka rolled in to fight anakin, but because the doors were jammed it couldn't help the Viceroy as in ep1?

In the script, Gunray opens the door and two droidekas enter and begin firing at Anakin. However, he easily destroys them because they're stupid and apparently don't have their shields turned on.

^
Jeez. That sounds lame.

Still, it's better than what Lucas had planned in the first draft with a ten year old Han Solo.
