DC to REBOOT???

Not open for further replies.
Paul Cornell's second title sounds dumb, but he's not, so I'm sure it'll be good. (On the other hand, that's how I justified buying Young Reign: Dark Avengers or whatever the hell that was, and look how that turned out.)

The more I read about this Etrigan thing, the more I like it though. And Morrison's New New New Superman is a must-buy, of course, though isn't this the fourth origin story since 2003?

Hope he keeps the Clark and Lois marriage.

I hope not. I really hope the shake up Superman. He has done his thing with Lois so its pretty much be same old if they go that route.

I want him with Wonder Woman.

Do you guys/gals know if that lawsuit with the Siegels will force DC to change the orgins of Superman?

^ That is the fear yes. Why is Wonder Woman a better companion for Clark than Lois? I don't get that mentality.

Really what more can you do with Superman and Lois that hasnt already been written?

Honestly i rather had Clark stick with Lana, redheads are hotter. Got to love Ginger!

That doesn't answer my question about Wonder Woman and Superman. Sure they're an intriguing couple potentially. The Dark Knight Strikes Again had them together and produced a daughter. I believe there was an arc in the early 90's where Clark and Diana almost had a relationship while exiled.

Clark and Lois were never properly written as a couple in my opinion. They've been apart in the comics now for a good two years thanks to New Krypton and Grounded. What's the point of breaking them up? Just so Clark can be hooked up with Wonder Woman? That doesn't seem very creative to me at all.

Yeah i see your point. If they are going to really reboot then maybe they will start Clark and Lois from scratch.

The Darkseid on the Edge of Town arc will be epic.

Had a father on Krypton, fighting off General Zod, they're still there, he's all gone.

...yeah. Fine, with the quoted exception, it turns out The Boss's discography isn't actually very suitable for DC Universe jokes.

Except, of course, for "Glory Days."

I wanted to share the key points from Judd Winnick's interview with Newsarama, regarding Catwoman:

Judd Winnick said:
...sexy... sexy... sexuality... sexy.Think sexy... sex appeal... sexy.

Stay classy, DC!

(And if you haven't seen the Catwoman cover, it's difficult to overstate everything wrong with it.)

On the other hand, over at DC Women Kicking Ass and other places, the bitching about Harley Quinn's stupid new costume is endemic, but I still have failed to be convinced how the new clothes are in any way worse than her old ones, from a "this is irredeemably sexist" standpoint.

At least when the artist has to draw shorts, there's some concession to the notion that she's actually wearing anything.

Don't get me wrong...I've always been intrigued by Clark and Wonder Woman. I just feel like breaking up Lois and Clark specifically so they can go that route is wrong.

Winick on Catwoman has me intrigued.

reading Booster Gold for the first time, wow he looks pretty cool and know nothing about him.

Looks like ive missed out on a lot of cool stories.

Booster Gold #44

Personally, I blame Larry Niven sperging out with his "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex" essay, which was almost definitely a joke, because Larry Niven is funny, but which wound up being taken seriously by the Goofuses of this world, such as Brodie Bruce and Grant Morrison, while Gallants such as us were left to shake our heads in dismay.

Shall we follow that logic all the way to its disturbing endpoint? Let's do it: Superman should be screwing Supergirl. We're all cousins in some parentela, baby. Feel the love.

P.S.: It's kind of weird that Winick isn't on Red Hood and the Outlaws, right? That's like a story about Hush that wasn't written by Paul Dini: you just can't expect it.

The just-ended run by Keith Giffen, J.M. deMatteis and Chris Batista was pretty good. It started off unbelievably great. It petered out toward the end (the final issue, #43, while not bad comics per se, is so anticlimactic that I'm actually reasonably certain that their story was artificially cut off by the arrival of Flashpoint and they had to finish it ASAP).

The special trade paperback coda to the 1996 Mark Waid / Alex Ross mini-series Kingdom Come also featured Superman and Wonder Woman having a child. A later 1999 mini-series written by Mark Waid (The Kingdom) continued that plot point and introduced their son, Jonathan Kent / Jon-El (who went on to become a guardian of time and reality in the guise of Hyperman).

I loved Booster Gold when Jurgens did the book, but I hated it when the new team came on.
You make me sad. :(

Maybe JLI-style humor isn't for everyone, I guess. It was the opposite for me--I only jumped on when Jurgens jumped off, and I only bought Jurgens' return to the book last month because I failed to read the credits on the cover.

I have also noticed for the first time how just how badly they messed up Deadshot's costume. Like, the robot armor stuff is bad, but I only just realized they took away his signature*: the wrist-guns are gone.

*Okay, it's either that or his monocle.

Just hope DC is totally REbooted and that the comics will be cheaper to dwn load too Kindle or here on puter so i can get my kids to read them. NO way am im i paying $3 or $4 bucks for a comic book.
The price for a standard length digital comic will be $2.99 upon initial release and then $1.99 a month later.

Yeah I forgot about "Kingdom Come" and Jonathon Kent (Diana and Clark's son). That was the best depiction of their relationship in my opinion.

Isn't it still set up where you have no ownership of the actual digital comic (i.e. you can only access it as long as you have an internet connection to their website)? I just can't see paying more than 99 cents per issue under that structure; you're really doing nothing more than "renting" the comic (like going to Netflix).

With no digital ownership option, they would probably best be served to set up a monthly rental fee like Netflix and give you access to different things based on the rental plan you choose. For instance, tier one would let you read 10 new comics per month; tier two would let you read 15 new comics and 5 back issues per month; etc.

Yeah, it is still basically a rental system rather than an ownership one, although the rental is open-ended and, in theory, infinite (as long as the app you made the purchase through stays in business). I think either a subscription service or an app that also allowed a CBR download of the comic you've purchased would be better.

Edit to add: regarding George Perez on Superman: The Man of Tomorrow, Perez has clarified that he'll be writing and doing thumbnail layouts for the artwork.

So according to the information coming out this weekend, some titles (Justice league, Action Comics) will have a 'year one' first arc that sets up the new Universe and others (Superman, Green Lantern, Batman) will be set in the present day of that universe.

I wondering if the difference looks between Superboy and Teen Titans also means that Superboy will have a year one arc and Teen Titans will be the present day.
