DC to REBOOT???

Jurgens Booster Gold was cool because it was dealing with events I remember from recent years, like Killing Joke and Death of Superman and Infinite Crisis. Also, it was nice to see Jurgens' art again, recalling Death of Superman. And it was a good combination of words per page without too many splash pages.

The next team was too much dialogue, too much talky, too silly.. they seemed to jettison all the character development that Booster had gotten in 52 and the Jurgens run. Plus it didn't deal with famous old situations aside from Invasion, which is one I don't particularly care to revisit. I've only read a smattering of the old JLI comics they were just alright.

My bet would be either on OMAC or Hawk and Dove.

Yep; my guess would be OMAC. It seems to be some kind of vanity book Dan Didio is pushing out so that he can be a writer too. The last time we saw that was Bill Jemas with Marville, and that only lasted 6 issues (7 if you count the last issue which was just an advertisement for the Epic initiative).

And just for reference, here are Didio's other writing credits with DC so far (including the awful revamp of Superboy that finally killed the book).

The title is corny but the line up of characters is interesting...I don't see it lasting very long but it's too early to decide that right now. I like the fact that John Constantine is a team member.

Cornell's Newsarama interview indicates they're trying to reach markets they don't normally reach-- such as epic fantasy fans with his Etrigan series-- though how successful they'll actually be in that regard is obviously something we'll have to wait and see.

I'm having a hard time seeing someone who's into dark fantasy thinking something called "Justice League Dark" is at all appealing, though.

It's a clunky title, but they're betting that the Justice League brand name will get it better sales and a longer run than Primal Force or Shadowpact, and they're probably right about that.

Ha ha, U-DECIDE. I loved that, just for the fact that for like three years afterward, just mentioning "U-DECIDE" was an automatic cheap laugh. I want to bring it back.

Yeah, I mean, I gotta be honest: are there Dan Didio fans? Like, I'll take one. Just one guy, somewhere in the Internet, who says "I can't wait for the next issue of The Outsiders."

On the other hand, Keith Giffen is co-writing and providing the art--and Giffen art is something I haven't seen in ages. So it's definitely worth picking up, because this is the man who did the Greatest Comics Panel of All Time.

I'm hoping that Didio is just a name on the cover and Giffen is the actual writer. It's really strange that he's on OMAC, though... it's not like there aren't several books that he is well-suited for and highly experienced with--I'd particularly like to see him do the Legion (and kill Karate Kid again!) with Pete Woods, my present favorite DC artist who isn't J.H Williams, or Suicide Squad, or, very obviously, Justice League International.

Maybe it's just strange that OMAC exists. I half-wonder if they think it's a movie-capable property?

(But if so, and even if not, isn't it bizarre that they eschewed the really cool, slick, very contemporary OMAC redesign for something close, and I think nearly identical, to Kirby original? I have no idea what's going on with this book.)

It's also like a slap in the face that there's a book about OMAC and a book about the Blackhawks and several other books about characters literally no one cares about, yet Secret Six is no more. The only thing I can assume is that they wanted a Suicide Squad book more, and Suicide Squad could easily be rebranded Deadshot and Some Other Guys, One of Whom May Throw a Boomerang, Or Not.

I say Justice League "Dark". I really hate that title  Have magical characters ever sold well?

I could direct you to a little known series called Sandman. :p

But in the DCU proper? Swamp Thing and Animal Man did all right, sort of. I'd say Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, too, but I'm guessing you mean more like urban fantasy-style magical, and anyway Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel haven't moved units in years, and in Batson's case, more like six decades.

(And yeah, the only name worse than "Justice League Dark" is "The Trenchcoat Brigade.")

Shadowpact ran for 25 issues.

I still feel really bad for that, because I really liked Day of Vengeance, yet never bought the ongoing.

Didio was also story editor and writer on the third season of Reboot. Generally considered the best season of the show.

Shadowpact wasn't really very good. They were mostly fighting B-list and spent way too much time talking instead of going against all the threats that they teasing about such as the War Gods, Demons and Armies that had been unleashed by what the Spectre had done.

Fabian Nicieza talks about "Legion: Lost" which I think I'm already going to drop from my list. The premise doesn't sound interesting to me at all. Honestly I don't think I'm really happy about the two Legion books at all.

But Pete Wooooooods.

And I thought of Mike Grell drawing Dawnstar and making the 13-year old me wish I could be a piece of yellow fringe.

Staying classy? I dunno, I'm actually pretty sure "being hot" was Dawnstar's only actual power.

I reluctantly agree that it doesn't look too good, and may not make it long with me. Fabian Nicieza is a risky venture in the best of times (that being X-Cutioner's Song, speaking of terrible titles), and, while I speak as a non-LoSH-superfan, the lineup is dire.

Except Tyroc. Oh man, bring back Black Person Island, DC. I double-dog dare you!

See, I probably would have liked it then. The fun part was everybody being an absolute dick to Ragman, for no earthly good reason.

I think they should have called it "Magic Justice League"or "Justice League: Jazz Hands"

I forgot about the Wildstorm books. Those will be canceled first :D
