Star Wars: Question on ROTS?

Very, very few know about Sidious' secret identity. Dooku did. Gunray didn't. I think Mas Amedda (the blue horned guy) knew?

There were a million new droids in ROTS. Magma Guards. Spider Droids. In those montage war sequences they showed all sorts of new droids.

Mace probably was going Dark when he beat Sidious.

Mas Amedda definitely knew. Wasn't he in the room when Palpatine threw Force-lightning at Yoda? I'm sure Palpatine's Red guards knew as well.

yea, they all knew, i'm pretty sure

A related question is how many people after the rise of the Empire knew that Palpatine was a force user? You could probably count the number on one hand. Grand Moff Tarkin calls Vader "the last of their religion." I wonder what the citizens of the Empire would think if they knew their Emperor was a Sith Lord?

Considering the fact that Palpatine blamed the Jedi for his disfigurement while declaring the birth of the Galactic Empire, I doubt very much that the regular citizen or even the higher ups in the military knew that he as a Force user or Sith Lord.

If you mean Skippy the Jedi droid, that's a non-canonical story. Midichlorians are only found in the cells of living things.

There were Jedi who were crystalline organisms that inhabited droid bodies so they could interact with the world, though. :sigh:

We don't know that they did nothing. Given what we know of Palpatine's nature, it would probably be less than surprising if every available angle they pursued ( such as Maul's ship ) resulted in a dead end.

Anakin does say in Episode III that Palpatine is the Sith Lord "they were looking for" suggesting that, even though we never saw it, the Jedi were searching for Sidious.

And in Episode II, Obi-Wan refers to Sidious by name (even though, in the film, he was never told Sidious's name) suggesting that some investigation has been done.

Although not officially canon, of course, James Luceno's "Labyrinth of Evil" is almost entirely about the Jedi's search for Sidious instigated by the capture of Nute Gunray's Mechnochair w/holotranceiver (what Nute Gunray was sitting on and communicating with Sidious with at the end of TPM) on Neimoidia. Anakin and Obi-Wan spend most of the novel turning over various clues across the galaxy that almost lead them to uncovering the true identity of Darth Sidious- before they're ultimately derailed by Grevious' savage attack on Coruscant.

I should clarify that my statement that the Jedi seemed not to be searching for the Sith...I meant on screen. Of course the books touched on this and have been referenced in the thread. I merely meant that it didn't seem like the Jedi had done much investigation since Obi-Wan had killed Darth Maul.

I'd suggest rewatching Episode II. Dooku does, in fact, tell Kenobi Sidious' name. In their scene together, Dooku says:

"Hundreds of senators are now under the influence of a dark lord called Darth Sidious".

And of course, Kenobi doesn't believe him.

I'd suggest rereading this thread as Flying Spaghetti Monster informed me earlier that:

Dooku told him after capturing him...

After which, I responded with:

Oops, you are right. I stand corrected.

;)

You know, you could have just ignored me.....

i had a question regarding the clone wars series:

i really love seeing the perspective from the Separatists and particularly, the droids. does anyone have a list of episodes i could check out to see what i'm looking for?

i'm watching Grievous Intrigue and wow, i'm really enjoying it. i loved seeing the commando droids taking on a jedi and the basic droids running low on paper in their walk.

i did a brief look on the episode list and this is what i found:

Weapons Factory: this one sounds decent because the separatists is working on a new tank. i'd love to see an episode where they're building a new droid.

ARC Troopers: seems to focus on grevious

Citadel Rescue: focuses on droids.

Citadel Rescue: not so sure about this one but it has a mention of droids.

thanks guys

Why droids? They don't have opinions on much other than "let's not get killed." :rommie: Actually I shouldn't laugh, it's a grim joke that beings who have an obvious survival instinct are treated as disposable cogs by both sides...

Heroes on Both Sides and Pursuit of Peace in S3 has more of substance on the Seppy story than the PT had in all three movies. I used to think those guys were just interchangeable boring stock villains who were only good for target practice.
