ETA- as for the person who we didn't see getting got, well, they established outright that everybody would be, so I don't mind if we miss seeing one cos they had to fit in the timeslot...

Sure, it just jarred quite badly, as he was still in the room with Amy, Rory and the kid, didn't seem like he was leaving at all (to run into a reflection or something), and seemed the most interesting of the throwaway extras.

It was good, but only good, nothing really lifted it beyond that.

not sure it was wise to give Pirates a spaceship, not because they will go pluder the universe, but becasue they will have no idea how to fix it, if something goes wrong.

Wasn't to sure on it, will have to watch it again at somepoint but it was passable but could be the worst episode so far this season. Next weeks should be a laugh though.

Wasn't expecting much. I expected a bottle show to try and balance the books after the big two parter and I've never been a fan of pirates. In the end it passed 45 minutes and the best thing was the next week trailer. Other good moments were the confused t-shirt gang and The Doctors reaction to the Tardis running away.
On the negative side, Captain Pugwash was a scarier pirate and the Tardis despite being at least the size of Belgium seems to have no medical facilities, equipment or even a first aid box. Oh, and Bob Picardo did it better.
Can I assume the alternate universes overlapping is going to come into play on the subject of Amys baby?

Good ep, pirate Amy was ace indeed and Lily Cole looked amazing. Great to see Lee Ross again, big fan from his Press Gang days (he also turns up in Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes)One thing though, in the end the Doctor leaves a bunch of space pirates free to ravage the galaxy?

Well last week he brainwashed the human race into becoming killers, when he's spent nearly 50 years fighting the sort of people who'd brainwash people into doing things.

Yeah, that troubled me too, especially as The Silence don't seem that evil

Seems almost like an 'anti-gelth' episode, with just as many cliches as The Unquiet Dead, only pirates instead of Victorians. Not to mention the appearance of a rift spot. Does this mean we'll get Torchwood Cornwall next?

It was fun, harmless and solved the story. I quite enjoyed it. I find myself reflecting on the notion that an enemy is actually a friend might be an interesting take on what has gone before.

I don't mind the gentle development of Rory and Amy's relationship: I find it a refreshing change from the whole "everyone who meets the Doctor must really fall in love with him". With Rose, Martha and Donna, not to mention River, it's rather nice to see Amy realistically sticking to her true love.

Lucky thing Rory and the Doctor weren't killed while Amy was taking the time to play dress-up. Still a girl's gotta look her best, right?

Absolutley! If you're going to try to convince a bunch o' scurvy pirates that you know how to wield a cutlass, wearing the outfit makes all the difference!

I'd call it the Jon Pertwee syndrome*. ;)

An ok episode. I thought it a bit weird that the TARDIS has a sickbay that cured people just last season but couldn't help any of the sick people in this episode. But I sort of like the idea of space pirates. :)
Good to know that some of the loose ends from the season opener aren't forgotten.

* Explanation for those who haven't seen classic Who: when he was the Doctor, he'd often find the time to change his outfit or hang up/don his coat in situations where time was sort of the essence or when things looked bleak.

I liked that, it's great to have a fun episode instead of Arch stuff all the time. There were also some nice moments that let one suspect the Doctor has an idea of what Amy and co are keeping from him. The Doctor's comment on everyone having to go sometime certainly got a reaction from Amy. I guess the Doctor has a theory as to what's up with Amy. The teaser for next week looks like a fun episode, too.

The trailer for next week is really intriguing - another Timelord? And an evil looking Ood?

Doesn't the Hare make for a good Doctor Who monster, though? What little I have seen of the show reminded me a bit of the shows on Satellite Five in Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways.

I thought the hare show looked really bad but when I saw the hare I thought they could use it in doctor who has a monster.

Was the comment about the ship being in another universe just a throw away comment or what? I thought other alternate universes were sealed off.

It was another plane (or dimension) within this universe- like the hyperspace ship in Stones Of Blood.

As for the disappearing crewman - definitely a timing issue. remember this was originally episode 9, with Gatiss' episode as #3 - they definitely had to add the Kovarian cameo, and probably the pregnancy monitor bit as well, removing them from Gatiss' episode - so they had to lose the equivalent amount of runtime here to fit those two bits in.

See that preview? I've been saying ever since The End of Time that the Ood were going to turn out to be TARDISes or connected to the TARDISes. I bet that I get proved right next week.
