I know someone whos the same way. Hes a big guy, could probably drink alot of people under the table if he tried, but he won't touch beer or anything else alcohol, but he loves apple cider.

You come visit me in Wisconsin, honey. I'll get you some nice New Glarus Apple Beer. You'll feel like you're drinking a good cold apple cider.

When I moved from England back to Canada with the kids for 2 years my then-6-year-old daughter was mortified to be offered some apple cider by a friend's mother. Cider here in the westcountry is, shall we say, just a wee bit fermented. :rommie: The "scumble" Terry Pratchett mentions in the Discworld books is a take on scrumpy (a type/brand of local cider), which can, in Pratchett's words, lead to happy brain death. I love the stuff, but can only handle one pint at a time at most.

This is also an excellent place to be for real ales. I can't drink any mainstream beers because they're so, so awful compared to a proper real ale, especially straight from the keg. I'm afraid I've been spoiled!

We had plum real ale the other day, can't remember the name but it was at a pub with a real ale festival. Really gorgeous, 4.3 % and as it's a fruit ~ part of my 5 a day :D

"Crafts"? Like.. macrame?
Come to the (formerly) Great State of Wisconsin, and try something from New Glarus. Perhaps a Totally Naked, a Fat Squirrel, or my favorite, Spotted Cow. You'll think differently about American beers.

As someone who is new enough to beer to really enjoy the novelty of the various flavors, I checked out New Glarus Brewing Company's website. Aside from loving their philosophy on social issues, their beer looks like something worth trying. Too bad you can only get it in Wisconsin!

It was a gorgeous spring day here today, so I went on a nice long walk through Ottawa. Here's a couple random low-quality cell phone pictures, one of Chinatown, and one of the downtown skyline.

Nice. I love seeing images of other states/country's versions of "Chinatown."

A backwards hail mary taken on my 0.3 mp camera phone while sprinting across the street to catch my bus gave me this happy accident:

Though I think I'm overdoing the vignetting in post. Hard to control, now that I no longer have a fixed contrast monitor.

Ours is pretty small, since we're a relatively small city that hasn't seen that much immigration from Asian countries (Middle Eastern immigrants seem to be drawn here more than most) but it's nice for what it is. We've got nothin' on Toronto, though.

And Bears, you know that eerie wind sound effect they'd always play on TOS when they were on some mysterious, empty planet? Yeah, I'm hearing that when I look at your picture.

An expatriate Irishman told me he once sent an American beer to a laboratory in Dublin to find out why it tasted so godawful. He got a report back in the mail a week later:

"Congratulations: Your horse is pregnant."
:rommie:

Finished a cross stitch last night:

On a sadder note, I finally got around to burying my cat's ashes. :(

Eddie and Kira both loved azeleas. Eventually, I'll have a little headstone here for both of them. :(

^ OMG how cute is that?!?!?!?

Kira, I've said it before, but i'll say it again....so sorry about your kitties. {{{squish}}} And the cross-stitch is so cool!

I wish i had my dawgs cremated instead of burying them in the backyard. When we move i won't be able to bring them with me. That makes me sad.

That brings back memories. When I was a child we had those airbrush tattoes. You could have thunderbolts, butterflies. All kinds of stuff. Of course as long as you can keep blowing air out, I learned the hard way to take a breathing break.

So K, with all the henna tats you are doing.....are you getting close to having a permanent tat done?

But Randi that would hurt  and I wouldn't be able to change it every couple of weeks

Still can't get any of the Men to let me draw on them... and Cat won't stay still long enough :(

 I am not familiar with this technique :vulcan:
