I watched part II last year for the first time. It wasn't bad per se but was such a blantant rehash of the first film that just wasn't unique enough. That said I have it in my Amazon cart and may get it when I need to push my total to $25 for free shipping. I like it enough to get it under those conditions.

I'll see MIB:3, at this point it's proven too interesting to not check out.

Well, the trick is to never watch the first one, and then it may seem just enough.

It doesn't help that the film is at most 80 minutes long. It's over before it even started.

Oh, but it does help - you have less time to ruminate on how much you'd hate the MIB if the actually existed to keep you from meeting awesome and wacky aliens. The agency is really a pretty nihilistic and spiteful place if you think about it; all the more reason to get in and out under an hour and a half.

I wouldn't give up the MIB we have, I enjoy them both, but, yea, a Serious take on the premise could also be an awesome counterpart series.

Granted it wasn't as good as the first one, but I still thought it was a fun movie.

No I agree with you, I liked it over all and if on will turn into it.

Once again, my Ghostbusters comparison rings true: The sequel isn't offensively awful, but it's just incredibly mediocre and is basically a beat-for-beat re-do of the first movie with some scenes and characters rearranged. It's not good, it's not bad, it's just ... there -- a movie that wasn't crying out to be made because of an amazing story idea, but rather a movie that was made because Columbia saw dollar signs and wanted to cash in on the property.

Timby, your comparison is spot-on. Hopefully, the third film will be different (a time travel plot suggest at least some divergence from the first film), but my hopes aren't high.
