Hugo, those are absolutely fantastic! Dare I say, almost Holdy quality. :rommie:

Seriously, they're very nice. I like them all, but find the first one particularly interesting. Would make a beautiful wallpaper.

May I ask - out of curiosity - what exactly your new camera is?
Haha, this is quite funny. I've never taken a photograph in my life until the other week when the police sent me on a 4-hour Scenes of Crime photography course so I can perform simple immediate evidence capture in case a Scenes Of Crime Officer (you call them CSI, we call them SOCO) isn't available. Sadly in the middle of the night this is generally the case unless it's a VERY serious crime and we can wake one up.

I enjoyed playing with the camera so much I went out and bought one msyelf. Nothing special, just a Pentax K-x DSLR to play around with (though I did my research and it was one of the best sub £500 camera out there according to most magazines). Seemed cheap at £350. Today was the first time I took a photograph with it, so at least i know now that I can hold it still!

I took over 70 photos in the end, trying out all the settings and the above were the ones i liked the best. Here are a few more. I rather like the 4 flying rats, err pigeons, sat on the plinth looking as if they've just fallen out over an argument ;)

Hugo - forgot to take gloves with him and so by the end his left hand was so cold that it took him five minutes to get back in the house as he couldn't turn the key in the lock! :rommie:

I was purchasing my first D-SLR about a year ago and I also decided to get a K-x. It's a pretty sweet camera. I've had mine for almost a year now and I'm really happy with my purchase.

I presume you're using the kit 18-55 lense for now?

You are such a slut ... says a man envious that he didn't offer first. :rommie:

On a more serious note, I may have to take a look at this Pentax. Back in the day, a couple decades ago, I used to be able to call myself a photographer. But, a lot has changed since then, and I need to relearn a lot, especially where equipment is concerned. I'm very seriously considering the Canon T2i (aka EOS 550D), but I'm gonna hafta take a look at this Pentax you speak of, because your pics are absolutely beautiful.

Well, I don't have any photography skills, and the truth of the matter is, I don't even know what camera I used to take these, other than it's my husband's dive camera!

Here are a few shots I took recently while I was snowed in in Edinburgh. They are of the park there, which looked like a fairyland, although I didn't appreciate it at the time, and the last one is taken from the window of the train home.

The park and gardens loooking like Narnia!

Piggies in the snow. A couple of hours into our train journey.

Some beautiful winter shots above....I miss snow!

I don't think I've posted any pictures of me here in about 3-4 years. Here's a couple from September. The first with the Tron Lightcycle from PAX (can't see the bike great unfortunately, couldn't get a shot with good contrast), the second from a school formal featuring my lovely lady friend.

Dammit when are we gonna get snow here?!? The Northeast US is pretty drab this time of year without it.

Also, it will cover up the back yard that needs to be resodded next spring.

I wanna hang out with TM to play with his Labs and maybe mooch his gin. I have ulterior motives and stuff.
