Did Picardo ever talk about Voyager?

Chekov was to attract young things like myself who were enthralled by Davey Jones of "The Monkeys" TV show.

Oh shoot!

I always said he looked like Davey Jones but I figured that was just the style of the times. I never knew that was the whole point. I knew that was the whole point behind Wesley & Jake but not Chekov. So basically, Trek has been trying to grab that youinger demographic for decades.

Fascinating!

Who's Davey Jones? What's the deal with "The Monkees"? Weren't they just another 1960s music group? Was Chekov in The Monkees?

The Monkees were America's answer to The Beatles. Davey was the lead singer.

Chekov was made to look a lot lot Davey.

The Monkees had their own show. You should youtube it.

I remember when The Monkees were "invented," basically put together by the network. I thought they would suck, but they did okay, better than I expected. They weren't The Beatles, though, or The Stones. But, man, the plots were lame on the TV show.

I still like Chakotay, though. ;)

I wonder, though: was he or *any* of the VOY cast actually difficult to work with? The way Tim Russ describes things, it seemed like a big laugh fest (albeit with hard work).

I`ve heard the same about the Voyagercast.

Quote from VegasCon:
Jery Ryan
"Though [Jery] Ryan jokingly referred to the men on the show as “psychopaths,” she noted that they were close during and after the show. “I know the guys all kept in touch and they were all getting together for a guys night [after the show ended], which I sometimes crashed,” she said. “But I suck at keeping in touch.”

Brannon Braga
His favorite of the three Star Trek shows he was involved in was Voyager. “I had the most fun doing Voyager,” the writer-producer said.

thanks for the info and quotes, Mareika. Though didn't Braga only work there as producer for seasons four and five? I wonder if the cast liked him. I read that, I *believe* it was Ethan Phillips, say that he actually liked Rick Berman and thought he was unfairly maligned, and that Rick was always nice to everyone.

Now about the "Monkees": thanks for filling me in. So they had a TV show as well as a band? How did that work? Did they play Monkees music on the show? How odd.

And speaking of old: I feel very old and felt that way since I hit my twenties (I'm still in my twenties). If I worry about it so much already by 23, I will probably go insane in my thirties and fourties. It all goes along with my extreme meloncholic, introspective, OCD, loner personality I guess. I always have to worry about *something*. ;)

I think Neil Diamond wrote most of the Monkees songs.

To be more fair, I think he wrote some, most were usually attributed to Boyce and Hart.

Diamond did I'm a Believer, though.

Ok, now you're really losing me. I've heard the name Neil Diamond but have no idea who he is. Or is he a country singer?

Wow, this makes me feel so old now. :(

Old?:vulcan:

I can beat that. For a game at the end of a week during summer school, I had a quote on the board and my students had to guess what movie it was from. The quote was "No, Luke. I am your father". None of the kids got it.

That's a damn shame.

In addition to his later duties as executive producer, he was there from the beginning of Voyager as one of the writing staff. His credit first appears in "Parallax" as "producer" and his credit moved up as the series went on. (Kenneth Biller also appears starting from that same episode, first as "Executive Story Editor.")
