I just watched this show for the first time, and I'm instantly hooked!
It was Episode One of the current season, and the segment on the Reliant Robin had me both laughing hysterically and staring at the screen in horror when I realized that it wasn't a joke: People actually bought that thing!
How could any governing body even allow something so ridiculously unstable on the roads?

Apparently British drivers from the time that vehicle was released were way different than American drivers. That thing would've been a deathtrap had it been released in the U.S. where people tend to have lead feet.

Indeed. I seem to recall that you could drive one on a bike licence too a few years back. I'm not sure if that is still the case though.

You should go download the old seasons, a lot of extremely good stuff has happened over the years. The episode you watched was only average, and that was far from the funniest thing they've ever done, that's for sure.

I think you need to park a Toyota Camry beside an orange Camaro SS and get your eyes checked.

So you're comparing one impersonal car to another? Works for me. I don't need to get my eyes checked to have the opinion that the Camaro looks bloated and is ugly as sin.

You're basically saying that 99.9% of all the cars ever built are anonymous, faceless appliances and that only a Zonda or a Lambo or a Ferrari can claim to be unique.

Pretty much, although I wouldn't limit "unique" to supercars. The vast majority (perhaps not 99.9%) of cars ARE anonymous, faceless appliances that were engineered to meet a low price threshold, minimal safety standards and NOT inspire awe from gearheads (design by commitee and accountants should be a sin)--it's the nature of the auto industry. Innovative engineering or eye-catching design that makes you say "Holy crap, they really put some effort into making this a unique automobile that's fun to drive and is a total looker" are incredibly rare.

I agree with you in principal, but I think your bar is a bit too high is all.

Indeed. I seem to recall that you could drive one on a bike licence too a few years back. I'm not sure if that is still the case though.

Yeah, it's still the case, I know someone who did until recently. Now he has one of these

You should go download the old seasons, a lot of extremely good stuff has happened over the years. The episode you watched was only average, and that was far from the funniest thing they've ever done, that's for sure.

Indeed. IMO the show peaked at Season 10 in which nearly every episode hit it out of the park (Polar Special, best driving road, Amphibious challenge II, Botswana challenge, 24 hour Britcar race, Cross-London race, Clarkson vs. Simon Cowell in an epic battle of TV douchebags being the biggest highlights for me).

You should watch the episodes where they drive to the pole and Botswana.

The Botswana special is, I think, one of the greatest love stories ever told.

I just watched that one recently, and yeah they did. They put an object valuable to them behind the truck to give them motivation to go through with it. Richard refused to do it.

I just watched that one recently, and yeah they did. They put an object valuable to them behind the truck to give them motivation to go through with it. Richard refused to do it.

IIRC, they also used Jeremy's drum kit (which Hammond and May trashed when he wasn't looking anyway) and James' piano (which he ran over).

I remember the drum kit because Clarkson then threw away Hammonds roof once they reached the snow capped mountains, which I loved.

Anyone see this weeks episode? What did we think of the mobile homes?
I didn't like the end where they went ove the cliff, which was a little too staged but other than that it was a good episode.
