Of course my mind went to something completely dirty when trying to guess.....had to google it!

same here. its terrible what the human brain can come up with. but i've been drinking... whats your excuse?

I'm a dirty old lady who's mind lives in the gutter. Heh.

Does sound a bit filthy doesn't it? ;)

It really does!!!!! :rommie:

Thanks for the info. I'm vaguely thinking about breaking the habit of a lifetime and actually doing some exercise, given that from August or so I'll no longer be working for anyone so will have the time to do it without feeling robbed of precious time off. Running seems a good option, being free, easily scalable from a very slow/short start, and won't cause me to put on bulk (important, because I don't want re-tailoring costs). I do worry about the impact stress of running though, so the idea of finding a good pair of shoes that won't lead to me fucking up my joints and promotes good alignment is important to me.

I have a real problem with my joints and can't jog or run without doing more damage or pain. So, we got a treadmmill in jan/feb and i have been consistant about using it. I "fast walk" on #3 and hold weights while doing so. I've lost around 20 pounds (just walking!) and haven't had any problems although sometimes i have to admit it is fucking torture staying on for the full 45 minutes (i watch a TNG or Voy ep while i'm doing it.) Good luck!

I like to feel the weight of my shoes because I'm a little odd or Protestant - it cannot possibly good for me if it doesn't task me a little bit, eh?

This made me LOL!!!!!

I received a decent amount of cash for my birthday so I've been horrible and buying clothes for myself. We had to cut our vacation short so I wasn't even able to wear the first dress out. :(

OMG. This is gorgeous!!!!

Did a little shopping yesterday and got a new pair of studs for my ears. That's pretty much it.

That's pretty cool that you've managed to keep it going so consistently. I did think about a treadmill (I also thought about getting a wii fit), but at the end of the day, I'm a miserly bastard at times, and just can't bear to spend money to do something I don't enjoy, like exercise. :)

^ Oh believe me, spending the money was not easy as i am as cheap as they come. But i was headed for a heart attack (due to really bad genetics) if i didn't start exercising so i figured it was worth it. If you have something on the telly it really helps a GREAT deal. And once i started losing weight (which really was an added bonus) i got more and more into it. I'm not saying i'll be doing this forever, but right now the fact that i can fit into clothes i haven't been able to wear in a few years is what keeps me getting back on that implement of torture!

Buying my Nook is now in doubt after being mugged today. The wife doesn't want me to buy it because it might be taken (I think) even though she told me that if I sold my Sony Reader I could buy the Nook.

I also need to get another phone...grr.

^Drag.

I bought a nice new wristwatch--all steel, black dial, with illuminated hands and markers, day/date, tachymeter, and water resistant to 100m.

It's nice to know that if I ever fall off a boat and sink the length of a football field, my watch will still work.

Mugged?! Dang, dude, I hope you weren't hurt.

Not a purchase of my own, but I was gifted this as a birthday present. Battlegrounds, here I come! :D

I'm so sorry to hear that. It sounds as if you're okay at least, and that's quite a relief.

auntiehill, Kestra, I was just punched in the head. My wife was worried but I am fine.

As there were four I felt it safer to hand over what I had. After all, I'm not Jackie Chan.

Novels!

The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett
All the Weyrs of Pern by Anne McCaffrey
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Have you read AtWoP before? Because just seeing the title makes me a little teary. :)

Hmm. That's a problem. How will they know when you died if your watch doesn't stop? CSI will have their work cut out because of you, you selfish git.

I'm glad it's working to keep you with us a little longer. :D

And I must say, I do like the idea of watching TV while exercising.

I'm having a few days of no-purchases after binging a bit last week, going out and spending too much several days in a row. I quite like occasionally purging myself of spending excess in this way. Makes me feel all virtuous and pure & makes the next bout of sinful consumption all the more enjoyable.

Took advantage of the summer sales and bought a pair of Replay jeans at 50% off. Remarkably, I was able to find my own size, they usually go like hotcakes when the sales begin. I had very few pants which fit any longer, so they were very welcome. :D

At this rate, however, that won't be a problem. I haven't owned a wristwatch in years, and I keep forgetting to put on the damn thing before I leave the house.
