Blu-Ray: F*** You

Re: Blu-Ray: Fuck You

Can I assume you guys are trying to skip them by pushing the MENU button on your remote? None of you has said. If that's the case, try pushing the CHAPTER SKIP button instead.
Uh, I said that I've tried both. David cgc also (indirectly) indicated that he has. :)

Oh. I missed that.

Oh well. I probably should also have clarified that I do that with regular DVD. I don't even know if it's possible with Blu-Rays.

What about Gamma Rays?

Re: Blu-Ray: Fuck You

Of course, the studios will tell you that they add the trailers so they can sell you the DVD at a very low price. Of course, that is all bullshit since other studios that don't add trailers and can still sell the dvds at a low price.

Rentals, i can understand the reason for trailers or even ads, but if i buy it, i dont want to see any of that shit.

marketing from home video distributor

When I turn on the hardware and TV I put in the discwith the stereo volume off and walk away for a few minutes. I'll stop by and if it's trailers i'll press the TITLE button or MENU button. If that does not change to a main menu i'll walk away for another 5 or 10 minutes and maybe get something to eat or flip through a magazine.
Finally when i sit down i'll goto SCENE SELECTION and start with chapter 2 and then hit Rewind to Chapter 1 to start watching the film. Why? to avoid the FBI warning or MPAA rating.

After i see the production company logo i will unmute the 5.1 sound from the stereo and set to my standard reference volume level.

Re: Blu-Ray: Fuck You

I don't like the truly unskippable trailers, but they are pretty rare and can be fast-forwarded through. The only one I can think of now is some Dreamworks disc that had a Madagascar trailer on it.

What really irks me are the Star Trek TV DVDs that have a 22-second Paramount logo and legal screens that cannot be sped up or bypassed in any way. Actually, most Paramount discs are like this, which may be one reason that they aren't as beloved among the Blu-ray/DVD community.

Re: Blu-Ray: Fuck You

It's crazy how people will find any reason at all to bitch about blu-ray. If Apple had created it people would think it's the best thing in the world.

Whilst it's nice to hear that you've adjusted to the notion of paying studios to advertise at you, as a heretofore stranger to such I've no intention of doing so.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to check how many dataz are left in my monthly cap.
