There's no way I could choose only one. I like variety. I could try to narrow it down by genre or something, but I couldn't pick a great comedy over a great drama... I mean, they're different beasts entirely. Yes, Elwood and Harvey did their share of drinking. I don't think you meant that as a criticism of the film, but it would be okay if you did. I'm well aware that it isn't the greatest film ever made. But it is a nice film, and one that I have a strong nostalgic attachment to due to my many fond memories of watching it with my late grandmother. For that, it will always be my favorite (followed closely by Arsenic and Old Lace). And, actually, I just picked up another of our favorite films, No Time For Sergeants, on DVD. Can't wait to watch that one again. It's been a long time. (And while I appreciate my old nemesis, Mitchell, coming to the defense of my favorite film, this doesn't make up for the murder )
The unfortunate incident wasn't personal Kelso. It was just my nature. Come on. Let me bury the hatchet. Um, I mean let us bury the hatchet. So, No Time For Sergeants is finally on dvd, huh? I had to buy an unauthorized version because I was tired of waiting for it. I especially like the latrine scene.
Anybody like Gunga Din? Not my favorite, but a fantastic adventure movie. It has really great action/comedy beats, and so obviously inspired the Temple of Doom.

I've got to give credit to "Harvey" for one thing - it was such a good movie that it made me actually like Jimmy Stewart for once. Seriously. His body language and voice annoy me so much. Most of the time I can't stand that guy and think most movies with him in them that are good are good in spite of him (I still don't like "Rear Window" and he's a big reason why). "Harvey" was so cleverly written and he gave such a great performance, though, that I had to set aside my Stewart hatred and begrudgingly admit that the movie was great, even with the abundance of him in it. He ALMOST ruined "Vertigo" for me, the lousy ham.
Casablanca, The Sea Hawk, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Patton, just a few off the top of my head that I can rewatch with pure enjoyment.

THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER 'Cause: 1. I'm fascinated by Naval ships and Naval Warfare 2. Alec Baldwin IS Jack Ryan. Not Indiana Jones, not Baffleck, Alec Baldwin. 3. It turned me on to Tom Clancy's work in general, something I'll never regret. 4. Sean Connery even speaks Russian with that accent of his. A must-hear. 5. Home of this line: "Russians don't take a dump, son, without a plan..." delivered by the inestimable Fred Dalton Thompson.
