Right now, things are coming to a head, I've been building up to this moment all my life. The last fifteen years of life have been one heck of a roller-coaster ride, my wife has died, my family turned out to be evil, my daughter got a brain transplant into something much smarter and countless friends have perished in horrific ways, some by my own hands. I've stopped seven separate terrorist threats on this country and prevented the death of a presidential candidate. So much can be said, much more can be done, but it's time that I move on to bigger and better things (R-Rating, here I come!) and possibly go to prison only to be released to stop another national crisis (Spoiler Alert!).

I've no idea how this country would've managed to survive without me and at the same time this country is somehow become a dystopic nightmare of spy cameras and some really fucking twisted politicians as a results of my efforts. So, really, I guess we're in the lesser of two evils. My powers of awesome have reached complete Internet Meme levels and I've killed enough people to populate a small town in Kansas. Seriously, you've no idea how hard it is to sleep at night knowing that. Well, OK, it's not that hard. (That's what she, said!) Life will move-on, somehow more awesome will come to TV, and it's kind of dumb some piddly half-assed Superman-lite show on a secondary network is getting more seasons than me, yet at the same time my writers have come up with entire characters they had no clue what to with and then thought it was a GREAT idea to make her the umpteenth mole that's made it into CTU. (Background checks... OF THE FUTURE!!!) Oh and her character and demeanor changed quickly, and Milton's got to be stinking the place up pretty good by now.

It's been a long road getting from there to here, it's been a long time but my time is nearly here. And I can feel the change in the winds right now, nothing's in my way and they're not gonna hold me down no more, no there not gonna hold me back to a cower, I'm Jack Bauer and this is the last episode of my life.

The following takes place between 2:00PM and 4:00PM on the day of the most convoluted bullshit you've ever seen.

Events occur in real time.

Yes, I'm starting this thread early but it's the the last episode of the series so I felt like it. So: :p. Between now and then let's talk about 24 and its moments both great and bad. (Cougars!) And what the road ahead holds for Jack Bauer.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

The best season is still the second year. No matter how good the finale is, that won't change.

I am pretty excited to see how it all wraps up, though. After limping along for fourteen pretty mundane episodes, this season has been firing on all cylinders (or at least as many cylinders as this show has left in it) the past 8 hours. I hope the final two will let it go out with a bang.

And, though it's a preposterous prediction in light of the upcoming movie (unless that is all a smoke screen, which I highly doubt), I say Jack dies at the end. In the very least, he's going to prison. There's no way out from his warpath at this point.

Trekker, my hat is off to you. That was a fucking brilliant, dead-on, and funny summary. Well done, sir! :techman:

I have to admit I came into this show very late. Saw the first episode of the first season, then caught the last half hour of the first season finale. Caught the end of the Season Two finale and the very end of the Season 3 finale. The next episodes I remember watching were the the first 2-4 of Season 5. Then caught the first four episodes of Season 6 and the last episode or 2 of that season. From Redemption on, I finally became a loyal viewer. I have a lot to catch up on although I'm familiar with it. Despite some ludicrousness and some shitty decisions (killing Renee) I really have enjoyed this show. I only wish I had been a regular viewer from the beginning.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Season one was the best season because the stakes were more personal and back then moles, diversions, people dying before they could reveal important information and false identities were fresh (the Alan York twist was pretty big). Real time was actually used for dramatic purposes (Jack fell asleep!) and they didn't need to end every single episode on some major revelation or twist for the sake of a twist (many which were resolved two minutes into the beginning of the next episode). It also helped that the first 13 episodes were planned out in advance.

Seasons three through eight just copied the season two major threat outline. And there's a certain level of absurdity after Jack's saved the world so many times and has never been wrong, and people still won't listen to him.

What is this "planned out in advance" you speak of? ;)

Planning is for amateurs.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Trekker;

What Pipes said, your intro was indeed brilliant! It most likely will be more brilliant than the 2-hour finale that we are going to comment on tomorrow night!

I'm sad to see it end, but other's before me here have hit the nail on the head, in many ways the magic has gone out of this show.

At least Jack seems to be going out with a bang, or at the very least an extremely high body-count.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Lost finale tonight and then 24 tomorrow. Hell, might even check out the Law and Order finale afterwards and make it a trifecta of TV greatness.

I completely disapprove of killing Renee. It felt like a cheap stunt. Still, I hope Jack goes out with a gigantic bloodbath.

I was watching the original ending to Season 1 last night. Without a question, they made the right decision to kill Terri Bauer. Still though, it was nice to see the alternate end where Jack gets a happy ending.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

A cheap stunt? Maybe. But it was a necessary step for Jack to go on a warpath. Of course, killing someone Jack had more than a two-day relationship with, like Chloe or Kim Bauer, would have made more sense, but I understand that the writers want to hold onto Chloe for the movie, and forcing Kim into the plot would have been an even bigger contrivance.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Well today is the day! Our final 24 coment thread. Kinda sad. Lets hope that the finale lives up to the hype. If they have even one scene better than the Jack kidnaps Logan scene from last week i will be pleased.

At the beginning of the season I was almost positive that they would use Jacks granddaughter to get to him. Looks like I was wrong, that what i get for not asking Manny (Coto) about 24 plot details when we chat. lol

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Here's how I envision the show ending tonight:

After a five-hour rampage that wipes out every Russian henchman, diplomat and politicians (and the Ukranian street vendor selling borsch) in New York, Jack finally surrenders. As he is lead away in enough locks and chains to defy Houdini, the scene cuts to -

The U.N., where Taylor sits in her office wringing her hands.

Intercom: Madam President, Tony Stark is here to see you.

Taylor: Send him in, please.

Stark walks into the room and greets her.

Stark: Madam President.

Taylor: Mr. Stark, what can I do for you?

Stark: Actually, I may be of assistance to you. I understand you have a bit of a problem.

Taylor: Boy do I ever! It's Bauer! I don't know what to do with him.

Stark: Well, I'm putting together a team...

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Oh, how annoying it is not to be able to see it live. I'll watch it first thing in the morning, though.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Bauer- Is this the end?

Angel David Palmer-The end is just the beginning. You'll be in good hands....

Bauer steps into the light

:techman:

After last nights somber "Lost" finale we go straight to more depressing things after the clue that things won't be happy for Jack.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

"It was all a dream, Jack. Nina didn't kill your wife. She killed you."

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

I've been pondering all of the dire predictions of things not ending happily for Jack. If these hold true... how does it affect the chances for the feature film?

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

I envision this season ending with Jack imprisoned for the murder of Logan or at the very least his extreme behavior(s) the last few hours and then the feature film will start off with Jack given parole because he's the only one that can solve the movie's day's crisis (if they did it good, they make it connect to Jack's dealing in Kosovo/the Dresdens.)

Prison seems like the logical path. He can't walk after what he's done, and they can't kill him.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Aliens save Jack from being arrested because they need his help to prevent a galactic war?

I can see that movie poster:

Saving America was just warming up, now Jack Bauer must save the whole galaxy.
