Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

"It was all a dream, Jack. Nina didn't kill your wife. She killed you."

That would be SUPREMELY awesome. Far and away the best ending I've proposed yet.

It would also be supremely awesome to watch people's heads here literally explode if the writers pulled out an abstract twist ending like that.

Just in the finale scene revealed!

Spoilers below:

Jack and Chloe are standing in a room, Chloe says "Computer end program". The room vanishes a holodeck grid appears. Jack, "Well Lt. O'brien, that was one of your more interesting programs" , Chloe, "Thanks Captain Bauer". Jack, "Your uncle Miles would proud, see you in the bridge". They both walk out of the Holodeck...Fade to black.. "Written by Brannon Braga" credit appears on screen. :)

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

I'm not feeling imaginative enough to make a fun ending. But I think Jack will end up in prison or on the run.

You did forget one thing, Trekker, in your recap. In the process of preventing seven terrorist attacks and the assassination of a presidential candidate, Jack also saved 12 African orphans in 24. Of course, saving 12 orphans for Jack Bauer is the eqivulent of rescuing a cat from a tree. Very light exercise for him. ;)

Jack saves 12 orphans every day as part of his morning cardio.

The ending:

After Jacks' final moments of completing the day's "mission" we pull out from CTU to reveal it's all taken place inside a snowglobe being looked into by an autistic child. The child is a grade-school aged blonde girl we hear Jack and see him in shadow behind the child in the doorway as he calls out, "Come-on, Kim, time for bed."

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

The following takes place between 2:00PM and 4:00PM on the day of the most convoluted bullshit you've ever seen.

That was awesome! :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I have seen the first season at a friends on DVD and just couldn't stop watching.. we blew through the set in two days (or a day and a half) and i was fired up. This show was better than anything i've seen yet and i couldn't wait to see season 2.

Then season 2 rolled on.. and after a few episodes my hard on kinda folded.

Season 3.. my junk folded in on itself.

I didn't bother to watch the other seasons and occasionally checked up on the storylines via Wikipedia only to realize i made the right choice.

Same thing applies to Lost.

I am so glad that finally those two extremely overhyped and overheated shows have come to an end but i fear the next thing is soon around the corner and will likely crash and burn in later seasons.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Season 2, for me, is the better season. It kind of takes the "universe" established in S1 and then runs-in for the touchdown. Season 1 is very, very, good and a nice deep personal story. Season 2 is great little action/drama piece that builds on that by upping the stakes. Season 3 continues that but is a little less "true to itself."

Season 4 is when the walls cave in and the show just becomes pretty damn silly. They pretty much treat the "real-time" thing as a joke, they try and end every episode on a "dramatic twist coda" and the show just became pretty-much a parody of itself but, somehow, it remained fun. Season 6 is half junk by using too many cliches that are just tired. (Jack's father is evil... Really?!) Season 7 was good, sort-of got back to some baiscs and Season 8, sadly, shows that the show just doesn't have "it" anymore which I chalk up to the writers either just being lazy or plain lame. The whole Dana/Starbuck thing showcased that nicely. (Including the BTS info that said they had no idea what to do with her.)

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

If they have even one scene better than the Jack kidnaps Logan scene from last week i will be pleased.

I'm not sure that's possible! Truly the best scene of the whole season.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

If Aaron Pierce doesn't make an appearance, this will be the worst season ever and have jumped the shark.

(And also shocking, considering how well Manny Coto was able to integrate many aspects of Trek lore, appropriately, into his season of Enterprise -- truly respecting long time fans)

^

I too, am missing Agent Aaron. Hopefully, they'll find a way to work him in, and pardon me for saying it, but:

WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME!

:p

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

I know Eric Lasalle from ER is appearing as the UN Secretary General.

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Here we are folks. Entering... the end.

:(

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Despite all my thoughts and comments, it's been fun trying to keep up with live commentary this season, things will seem empty from hereon out. Last episode, here comes a hurrah, hopefully...

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Moments to go, we're just about there. An era is coming to an end, both on TV and here on the BBS. It feels strange to think that I'm participating in my last 24 live commentary. This was the first show I ever did commentary on (starting back in 2002) and I've made some pretty good friends here.

Let's make this our best effort yet.

:techman:

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

I liked Kiefer's "thank you" at the beginning. Nice touch

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Niiiiice... replay Logan's panic-driven meltdown in the car... "IT'S JACK BAUER!!!"

Re: 24: SERIES FINALE - Day 8: 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Discussion and Spoile

Even Jack sounds like he doesn't really buy into the "Events occur in real time" line.

Yep, awesome.

Oh look, it's an episode with the "events occur in real time" disclaimer! :D

Wow, Jack took down 6 security guards and the Russian diplomat. Nice.
