If you're not watching this people, start now. It's utterly gripping. Best cop thing the Beeb has done for decades. Idris Elba is chust sublime.

I was going to watch cos it was Idris Elba, but then saw the description in the Radio Times (maverick tec with a wife who's dumping him ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz...)

And so didn't bother.

More fool you then. It has a completely amoral woman who's literally got away with murder and has now adopted the DCI as her pet project. She's utterly creepy and quite the best character I've seen on TV for ages. He's borderline suicidal most of the time, which makes him take crazy risks which still make you bite your nails. It's quite possible he won't make it to the end of the series. It's that sort of show. Oh and he's good at working out whodunnit.

It also doesn't help that Tuesday night is our taekwondo night, and has been for about six years....

The writer describes it as a "Howcatchem" rather than a "whodunnit".

Oh, it's a cop show? I thought it was about the priest who started the Protestant Reformation when he nailed his theses to the door. Which must have been painful.

Brrrrrrrrump-bada-BING!

I'll be here all week, folks. Try the veal.

Yep, it's a cop show, but in the 'open mystery' style of Columbo and Monk (we know whodunnit, but how to prove-it?). The big twist being that the female lead is the murderer who Idris Alba's lead character knows to be guilty, but can't catch out...
I like it.

Yes I suppose but obviously they have to do a modicum of detecting before you get to the 'how the hell do we catch this one then?' scenario. There was an impressive body count while he was working out how to do it last week. Normally I absolutely loathe gratuitous carnage and would stop watching but this was actually done very well. It's exciting. When was the last time you could say that about a cop show you watched?

I don't think it's a bad show, and I think it's a different enough style to be enjoyable. I just haven't been grabbed by it.

Hey Deckerd, thought you'd like to know Luther's been recommissioned, it's 2 2 hour episodes this time though.
