Do you think he would have gotten it together with Bashir.![]()
No Mrs O'Brien or baby O'Briens, no Bashir and Ezri stuff. No Kira is carrying my baby stuff. No terrible Molly from the future episode. Religious groups sending endless complaints to Paramount to stop morally corrupting the children. And if he did, how do you think it would have affected the show ?
Doubt it. Kira is too abrasive and Dax might be a bit too young for him.Plus, if not Bashir. What about Kira or Dax.![]()
QFT.Agree with Jono.
O´Brien and Bashir were friends, they had a great male-friendship, but I could not imagine that this would ever have formed into a romantic relationship... married or not married.
Also QFT.Kira and Dax (no matter if Jadizia or Ezri) also not really fit to O´Brien in a romantic way. I doubt they would be O´Briens type, nor would he be their type.
i think a more interesting couple would have been Garak and Martok.
Whose baby would Kira have been carrying then? Or would she have become a happy mommy of Shakaar's baby?No Mrs O'Brien or baby O'Briens, no Bashir and Ezri stuff. No Kira is carrying my baby stuff. And if he did, how do you think it would have affected the show ?
I don't think they would ever have any kind of romantic/sexual interest in each other if the writers didn't shoehorn it into the carrying-O'Brien's-baby plot. For starters, I don't think he's her type at all, judging from anyone she's ever been actually involved with/attracted to.I think he might have ended up with Kira. We saw their chemistry while she was carrying their baby. True, that is what bought them together. But I could see if happening in other ways if Keiko is out of the picture.
I think they go well together.

Well, if that were so, then why didn't she ever choose a "simple", ordinary guy? Look at her choices (aside from Mirror Bareil, who she was clearly drawn to just because he reminded her of Bareil): Bareil was a vedek who almost became a kai, a man she deeply admired for his spirituality and morality, and with whom she shared a strong faith (even though they disagreed on some theological matters); Shakaar was the former leader of her resistance cell and later the prime minister of Bajor, an old friend she had fought with and whom she had no doubt long admired as a leader; Odo was different in that he wasn't a Bajoran or even a humanoid and his unfinished features don't exactly fit any humanoid standards of physical attractiveness, but he was an old friend from the Occupation days that she admired for his ethics and dedication to justice. Even Tom Riker, whom she was attracted to, does not exactly fit the idea of a everyman, does he. If she wanted to pick an ordinary guy to have a simple, ordinary life, she could have chosen from lots of normal guys with ordinary jobs on the station and on Bajor.I don't think they would ever have any kind of romantic/sexual interest in each other if the writers didn't shoehorn it into the carrying-O'Brien's-baby plot. Before Odo, I might agree. But does she really have a type? Okay (sp?) Bariel and Shakkar are somewhat similar maybe. But Odo was completely different.
I just see them both as basically "simple needs, simple life" types. They are both very upfront and uncomplicated in how they approach things. That is my take on it anyway.

I personally think that nearly all same-sex friendships in Trek are just friendships. Bashir and Garak are the only exception. It requires some subtext for fans to think that two male characters are not just friends.I have no idea why anytime Star Trek makes two male characters be best friends, people have to jump on this notion that they must have been gay, or they could have been gay..... why can't they just be best friends and leave it at that?
Tough as it is for slash fanficcers to accept, some people are actually heterosexual.![]()
Why must every great male friendship be turned into a gay relationship? They were just two guys who started out not liking each other very much, but who became great friends in the end.
Dax and Kira were close friends and talked about everything together and if it wasn't for them talking about this guy or that (ie: the Captain with the transparent skull) one could easily argue they were lesbian, yet nobody does.
