Your ultimate dream Trek story

^ Kinda like a Trek pulp SF mag? Thrilling Wonder Stories for the Trek set?

I could dig that, even though you and I are probably the only two who'd buy it.

Make that three. I've never really read that kind of series, but given the diversity of the Trek universe, something like that would give us a chance to see alot more of it explored in depth.

Exactamundo. Guess we'd need the occasional Captain Proton story, too.

I dunno, I'd bet folding money that at least half a dozen people would buy it. Maybe not even counting you, me, and JD.

 Count me in.

But yeah, we're the die-hards, posting on here. I think something like that would almost certainly have a hard time finding a wider audience.

Maybe, with the advent of Kindles and Nooks and everything, they could do something like this with eBooks. I know that SCE was eventually cancelled, but it would almost have to be more profitable now than it was then.

I'd love a Founders origin story.
Only if they could get S.D. Perry to write it! The Bajoran trilogy was exceptional.
Also I used to want a Founders/Borg story...
I wonder if these two ever got it on? Did the Dominion fight them back (doubtful) or did the Borg test them in other (proportionately bigger) ways?

Some years ago I talked briefly with Mr. Ward and, I think, KRAD, about a Trek yarn that I think would blow the doors off the whole thing and which would allow us all to flex muscles the fans would enjoy seeing applied to Star Trek.

Epic sort of covers it.

And, no, I'm not telling.

We only had that one little tidbit so far in Trek Lit that I'm aware of, in the Mission Gamma DS9 book where we saw what happened when a Borg drone tried to assimilate a founder...

I'd even like a Caeliar/Founder story (the Caeliar must be aware of them, having probably rejected them in their great search for a greater society than theirs) though I assume that if/when the Caeliar ever are written about again it will have to be in a much larger context.

I'd also vote for another "highly evolved societies" mega-story - all those god-like beings, and long-extinct civilizations. I love that stuff.

Well there is always the Founding of the Federation thing that I wanted to see, but I just have to wait until the Enterprise novels complete their current Romulan War arc.

Re: So what are you reading now? (Part 3)

I'd love to see novelizations of the Star Trek films that never were, Star Trek: The Academy Years and Eric Jendresen's Star Trek: The Beginning.

Jendresen has commented in the past that he would like to see his story novelized, and Steve Roby's site mentions old plans to novelize The Academy Years that never came to fruition.

I wouldn't want the stories changed at all to fit in with modern Trek canon or the book continuities. The whole point would be a glimpse at how Star Trek might have turned out.

Mine would be Geordi gets married and gets a command of his own (though not necessarily of a starship, per se).

Like your dream. I'm all for more character development for Geordi. Wouldn't mind seeing that Lost Era Tzenkethi War book. I was really stoked about it when it first got announced and mourn its indefinite suspension.

I also have always wanted to see Sisko v. Borg II. I've been toying around with the idea in my head for years so eventually I'll probably write it myself. Why did Strange New Worlds have to go away? Darn it!

^ Looks like the upcoming Rough Beasts Of Empire is going to cover some of the same ground that that Lost Era book was planned to cover; the cover blurb mentions Sisko remembering his time in the Tzenkethi War.

A story where a Human learn that Klingon/Vulcan/whatever values were superior to their own.

A story where an alien/robot/hologram wasn't arsed to have a quest to become more human or even better understand humans.
Ha ha! Yes.

Machine Man should visit the Star Trek universe

Picard: You see, to be human is..

Machine man: I do not care fleshy one

Picard: But you must care because to be human is...

<Machine Man starts up buzzsaw>

Picard: Arggggggggggggg!

Would love to see a novelization of the Kitumba script written for the Phase II series back in the '70s. I bet KRAD could make it fit into current klingon kontinuity.

I agree it would be good to see stories where Geordi gets more development, maybe with him taking over as the new Second Officer of the Enterprise.

Also I'd like to see stories that reintroduce some of the interesting under-used characters of the past like Sam Lavelle, Aquiel Uhnari and the Starfleet Academy (Marvel Comics) characters - Kyethn Zund, Matt Decker, T'Priell/Selke, Edam Astrun and Yoshi Mishima.
