    I was only 2 when TNG first aired, so I obviously don't remember it. However I am pretty sure that my parents were watching it each week. The first episode I remember seeing was "Genesis" and I was young enough that it really scared me, lol. I continued to grow up around Star Trek and I have loved it as long as I can remember- even though I was traumatized by some of the scarier stuff at a young age (like the creatures that go in their ears in The Wrath of Khan!)

    Right now I am rewatching all of TNG :)

    I'm Andre, from the south of Italy. My very first approach to Star Trek has been the original series which I began watching when I was 6 years old, though I discovered TNG shortly after and since then it has always been somewhat my favourite.

    Favourite character from TNG: Data, but when a child it was Worf.

    Hello all I only just finished completing the registration details for this forum. I am so excited to find such an active forum about Star Trek related topics.

    I am 28 living in Australia, I remember late one night at the young age of 13, sick as a dog and my mother let me stay up to watch TV. 11pm rocked around and a show came on that totally took my breath away, "Star Trek: The Next Generation"

    After that night I made sure Mum always recorded St:TNG for me every week. Even now at my age I have all of them on DVD, along with ST:E.

    My favorite crew member above all others was like many others "Data", so innocent but yet so funny.

    I would also add that my favorite area of The Enterprise D is Engineering. I could sit in there for hours and just watch that warp core thumping away. Best warp core out of all series ;)

    Hello all! This is my first Trek board and I'm really pumped about discussing all things Trek (particularly TNG) with other fans. About me, well my name is Chase and I'm 29 years old. I have been watching TNG since just before my high school years. Here in Oklahoma TNG came on every Sunday night at 10:35PM on our local NBC affiliate (I can't remember when I started watching but I would speculate it was around '94). I would do the best I could to stay awake through the whole hour but since most Sundays were the night before school I fell asleep during a commercial break. When TNG began it's cable run a few years later, I would catch an episode now and then but had probably seen less than 15 episodes from start to finish. Around 2006 when I was older, wiser, and fairly settled in, I started watching the reruns on G4 and Spike and later SciFi. I now TiVo the WGN reruns every night and watch them at breakfast. For some reason, there are still a few season 6 and season 7 eps I have never seen--they don't seem to show those as much on SyFy and WGN?? In the end, I'm glad that I got to catch up on TNG in my mid 20s because I think I appreciated the nuances a lot more than had I watched as a teenager. For me, TNG is the best TV show of all time and AGT I & II is hands down the greatest series finale.

    Anyways, I love the entire cast (even though I can relate to the Wesley / Deanna haters) but my favorites are Captain Picard and Commander Data--in that order. I also love the repoire between Captain Picard / Q and Captain Picard / Guinan. I agree with those that say the high water mark for the series is the middle seasons but I still think there is a lot to admire about the "bookend" seasons as well. I have seen a decent amount of TOS, VOY, and DS9 but have never seen a single minute of ENT--don't know why, it has just worked out that way I guess. While I saw a lot to admire about the other series, for me the talent/chemistry of the TNG cast and the depth of the characters in TNG far outshined the other Trek series. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the Trek movies (even the bad ones) and I have dedicated myself to catching up on the other series now that I have seen most of TNG.

    My favorite episodes are Tapestry, AGT I & II, Yesterday's Enterprise, and Q-Who. I'm surprised at those who now say that TNG seems dated and stale. While I agree that the first two seasons haven't aged well, season 3 and beyond still seem current by TV standards. Anyways, I have written WAY more than you guys want to read so I'll sign off!!!

    Hello, I'm Sal'ira. That's not my RL name, but I wish it was.

    I first got into the whole Star Trek one December while my family was moving. I was flipping through the channels of the television, all alone at home while my parents took things to the new house, when I happened upon this show on SyFy. This was this very interesting, silver-skinned man on there. It was the tail-end of the episode, but I fell in love. I like to think it's because of Data that I became a Trekkie.

    My favorite character is Data. I also fancy Q and the Vulcan engineer, Taurik. Any scene with Data and Geordi together is just fine in my book. (: And I don't think they had enough Cardassians in the series. That's just me, of course.

    Just so this is clear, I quite liked Wesley Crusher. Yes, he was a bit Gary Stu-ish, but he was just so cute!

    Hello all. I am new here. My name is Mike. I am 23 and from Chicago. I recently moved back from school in eastern Los Angeles county. I love TNG and it is my favorite series.

    My favorite episodes are Yesterday's Enterprise, The Inner Light, Chain of Command, The First Duty, Lower Decks, Timescape, Tapestry, and Ship in a Bottle. :drool:

    My favorite characters are Data, Captain Picard, and Doctor Crusher. I did not like Tasha Yar. I can see why people hate Troi but she had some good moments in Disaster, Timescape, and Face of the Enemy. When I first saw TNG I thought Wesley Crusher was a girl.

    Finally, someone else who understands my perpetual hate of Tasha Yar. I did not like her. I don't understand why people dislike Troi so much. What is there to dislike, honestly?

    Ok, the Jig is up. I'm a TNG fan.

    Gotta say I've got a huge crush on Picard! Not to mention Crusher. mm mm (keep them separate, though)

    I really like the mindfuck episodes like Frame of Mind and Schisms, but I also love the holodeck eps. Ship in a Bottle is classic. "We're still on the holodeck." SCORE +1000pts

    Chain of Command = amazing
    Inner Light = glorious
    Genesis = w00t
    Masks = yes!
    Sub Rosa = upvote
    Troi = DOWNVOTE
    Lwaxana = awesome!

    I could go on all day...

    I proudly raise my hand as a TNG fan.

    Born way back in 1960, I have always been a fan of SF in general, and had a general awareness of and liking for Trek. But it wasn't until my boss enthused to me about ST:TNG in 1988 that I really started *watching*...I caught the episodes leading up to the "Best of Both Worlds" cliffhanger, watched the reruns through the summer, and by the time they dropped Picard's other Borg shoe in September I was *hooked*.

    Like all Trek series, ST:TNG struggled in its early years. There are some first-season episodes that are just painful to watch, and I share the view of many that young Wesley just needed to have been shoved out the nearest air lock. But once they found their stride, ST:TNG produced some of the finest SF ever created...thoughtful, consistent, coherent and well-acted.

    I've been bumming around in the VOY forum, but I suppose I should come in and say I'm a TNG fan as much as anything else - I was born in '85, so TNG is the Trek I grew up on. :) My father was a die-hard Trekkie, and he had oodles of the books written in those early years before TMP, so I grew up knowing the TOS guys, too. :) But TNG was the first Trek we got to sit and watch as a family, so I have a abiding love for it.

    Regretfully, I have not seen several TNG episodes since probably the first run(!), although SyFy's been helping me get back up to speed. I have a secret crush on Riker, and I still turn into nostalgic mush when the theme song plays. Also, that episode where Troi was chocolate cake* was one of the most terrifying images of my childhood!

    *EDIT: Sorry, cellular peptide cake. With mint frosting. :p
