Liked it. They really needed an antagonist other than the IOA and the situation in general. I think it *might* be starting to find it's stride.

My guess is Chloe, who no doubt has a far weaker mind than Rush, is now an alien plant of some kind. If true, then they're not being too subtle about it. The actress playing her continues to suck all the air out the room when she's on screen. She's becoming SGU's Grace Park.

I feel there's more to Rush's story than he's letting on, vis a vis the aliens.

Also, I hope they can at least pretend that some of the people (besides Rush) opposing Young are of some intelligence and they're not just setting them up to fail and look stupid, so Young can "make the hard choices" and save the day...or some dumb shit like that. If they're going to go there with this juvenile "teh guys wit guns are meanies" plot, then at least try to make it original. Here's a thought: maybe they actually succeed. *GASP...the gall*

Though I'm still not bowled over, this was a decent ep. After last night's Fringe and a pretty captivating V return, this just really pales in comparison (not it's fault, mind). The characters all still make me think of high school students and their pettiness is grating. But the concept is still appealing and these new aliens are some of the best looking ones I've seen on a SG'verse series. I hope there's more to them than "wanting Destiny", as such a shallow motivation will quickly put them in Replicator-zone.

The pacing is still as glacial as ever.

As others have said, it still feels like a show trying to find its legs and if they haven't figured it out by episode 11, I wonder if they ever will. Unless the theme of the show is "we're stuck on an old ass, broke down ship and the people on it are all backstabbing, whiny little bitches", in which case they've clearly hit their mark.

My criticism may be harsh, but I still have guarded optimism.....for now.

- Ming-Na continues to be a bitch. I’m not a Young fan, but seriously. Does it really make sense on an alien craft stranded on the other side of the galaxy to take out the people who have the weapon and survival know how? You may not like the guy or any of the military personnel, but if they’re going to keep you alive, suck it up!
- They have limited resources, yet someone packed the sewing kit?
- That alien ship hardly looked threatening. The smaller ships reminded me of “The Swarm” from Voyager.
- Scott and Greer must’ve trained some hours in that shuttle because they are great shots.
- At least the aliens had the sense to put a muzzle on Chloe. Or do we want them to let her drown? Oh I hate hard choices.
- The aliens are very well done. I am very aware they are CG, but they seem to work, even if they do look like squid from the Avatar planet.
- This episode did start to put some friendships in place: mainly Scott/Greer and Johansen/Lt. James. Both are believable and added to my enjoyment of the episode.
- The Scott/Chloe romance continues and we continue to hate it almost as much as the Dana Starbuck 24 subplot.
- What was James crying about at the end?
- A good episode, definitely better than probably more than half of the first half of the season. The pacing, the writing, the acting all seemed better in this episode.

A good question, and a few minutes ago, I think I had the answer, it's probably something to do with her misery, and that it seems it'd take very little to turn her outlook around.

It's nice to have SGU back. Sorry to hear that some of you didn't like it. I thought it was fantastic. Everything was fast paced and intense with everyone on high alert during the show's first space battle. Well shot and well made are how I'd describe tonight's episode.

One thing I didn't like was how quickly and easily Rush got back to the Destiny or how Young's murder attempt was swept aside. A lot of what was said between them made sense and helped a bit though. Still, I was hoping for an extended story about Rush making his way back. I thought we'd at least see him getting the crashed ship working or something to that extent. Even better would have been if he used the gate system to get back. This is Stargate afterall.

Also, as mentioned, Scott and Chloe... Ugh! All I could think about was poor Eli again. I said that Lt. James was out of Eli's league, but maybe the two of them should get together. He'll forget about Chloe in no time. :D

And yes, why was James crying?

Excellent

The best of the series so far. I know there haven't been many episodes, but this episode was awesome.

The aliens looked really cool and I really want to see them again. I didn't mind that Rush and Chloe's escape from the ship was not shown. I think it lent an air of mystery to the whole thing. Are they telling the truth?

Well, at least we now know who that ship that detached from the Destiny early on in the series belonged to. I agree though, pacing's still a little too slow and Rush came back too quickly for my liking.

Looks like there's a little bit of a foresight then, and lets be honest? An attempted mutiny is something they are obviously building towards Overall, I did like the episode, the whole ordeal with Rush does seem off and the "the men with the guns" (as someone else called it) "are evil" thing? Lame. Especially when the civilians are clearly not fitted to lead a group for survival, I mean...seriously.

Flawed characters are a good thing, but there's flawed characters, and then there's...just.. bah.

I'll reserve judgment until I see next week's episode, but if there are lasting consequences from the mutiny that is inevitably going to happen in the next episode, I will be pleasantly surprised.

I have to say, I really like the Rush/Wray pairing.

I also give them props for the aliens, they seem non Human looking enough to be an actual alien species, down to the fact they are obviously smaller (built wise) then a Human, and the fact they don't seem to speak, or understand English.

I liked the false reset button.

"For the sake of the crew."

WB-esque music montage...then...

"That sumbitch tried to kill me. He's dangerous."

If Ming Bitch does take over what's she gonna say to O'neill?! He won't have any of it IOA or no IOA. Not that there is much he can do about it except resent it.

I really liked it... One of the best episodes yet!

Having the alien ship just appear was a great end to the teaser. This also explains what the 'pod' was that fell off the ship in an earlier episode - it was the same kind (I think) as the smaller ones we saw in this episode. So these aliens seems to have the ability to track and catch up with Destiny, so I think we just got a first look at some alien antagonists.

I liked the Young/Rush conversation at the end... They agree to be civil, but they certainly know more where each other stand.

As for Ming-Na's character - airlock her... :)

Gave it 5/10. I'm not curving it on a special SGU scale or anything, so 5/10 is probably well above average for this show :)

What I liked:

-The aliens were kind of cool.

What I didn't like:

-Rush being back to more or less normal by the end of the episode.
-The space battle was kind of boring to me. You can tell that they're trying to half-assedly ape BSG with the tactical grid and all that, but with one shuttle thing flying around, and really no tactics to speak of beyond, "Get the weapons online! Fire the weapons!"
-Chloe and her, "Hmm, it appears we're being boarded. Well, I could run and hide, and maybe alert someone on the radio, but you know what? I'll just stand here and see what happens. It's not like people board ships and start shooting people... there's no reason to even think that such a thing is even the remotest possibility!"
-Lt. Tatum and his "I'm gonna go rescue Chloe" bullshit
-Stupid montage at the end, complete with Chloe and Tatum in bed.
-Young and his... I'm going to save Rush, no wait, it's better I kill Rush crap.
-That incredibly hokey scene where Lt. Tatas is talking about wanting to get with that one dude who I don't remember and for all I know didn't show up until this episode, but maybe he did and I'm just not caring enough to remember.
-Lt. Tatas sobbing. You'd think she just broke up with Edward Cullen or something :guffaw:
-Is it just me, or does everyone eavesdrop on everyone else on this show, intentionally or not?
-The civilian mutiny that's been brewing... it just doesn't have any credibility.
-Nobody trusts anyone? I don't know if that really makes much sense. It's been a while since I saw the last episode, but was there really any good reason for everyone to think that Young killed Rush?

Hmm, now that I've actually written out my list, maybe 5/10 is a bit generous!

Enjoyed the episode, good to see the show back again. Loved the aliens, also dug the fact that they didn't just give them to us in the first episode, they made up wait eleven before giving us a single ALF. Looking forward to seeing them again, probably as much as I'm not looking forward to seeing...

The Lucian Alliance again. They bored me in SG-1, they'll have their work going againist them to turn my dislike around.

Oh, if I may. Since I noticed no one has tossed this in... Since we have a new, unknown race of aliens, could they be the Furlings?!!!
Yeah, I frakken' doubt it too.:guffaw:

9/10 from me.

Probably the best episode of the show so far.

Not sure what James was sitting blubbing about at the end. Seriously, woman, pick a guy.

Easily the best episode of SGU so far.

Action, excitement, meaningful character interaction and not even one flashback to Earth.

Not a perfect episode mind you, but light years ahead of anything in the first half of the season. Unfortunately the last ten minutes or so were kind of a let down. Rush and Chloe getting back to the ship in the nick of time felt extremely contrived(hopefully Chloe is an alien spy or something to explain it). The pop song at the end also felt out of place.

But still a great episode. And next week looks good too.

^Chloe being an alien spy would add some sort of purpose to her character other than making Eli feel like shit.
