Aside from Frasier Crane, "Angel" featured -- as many pointed out -- one of the greatest developed character/tranformations on television, in the form of Wesley. It's amazing what he started at, to where he ended, and it was all believable as well.
Plus, we got great lines which wouldn't have been NEARLY as funny if it weren't for the journey and character development, like:
Angel: "Wes?"
Wesley: "Kill them all!"

Hearing him say that, and the look on his face -- it's just something you have to build to to make such a unremarkable exchange, just ... well, it made me giddy.
