New Transformers Series? (Possible spoilers)

I've been seeing a show being advertised on Syfy that looks like a new Transfomers series. Is it the same Transformers as we already know or is this a totally different franchise? (First time I've heard about it :))

The new series that they've been discussing could be based on the upcoming video game "Transformers The War for Cybertron" and I don't think it has anything to do with Transformers Animated.

I thought there was a new Transformers series being developed for The Hub (the network currently known as Discovery Kids). That's going to be the home of a lot of Hasbro properties (Transformers, G.I. Joe, My Little Pony, etc.) once it starts up this fall.

There's no concrete news about new Transformers tv. I suspect it's either a trailer for the War for Cybertron video game, or a completely unrelated tv show with superficial TF resemblance.

Apparentally the new 'toon is called Transformers: Prime, and will star Jeffrey Combs as Ratchet(!) according to the Transformers news sites.

And these sites would be... ? Care to provide some links?

After suffering through Revenge of the Fallen, I watched the original cartoon. All three seasons and the movie. First two seasons were the best. Movie was meh. Third season was mostly trash with a few good things here and there.

I've looked at a few series after that, and they were crap. Transformers Teen Titans and lots of other junk. The only remake I want to see is a remake of the original (main plot, animation, etc) and plan it out for a few seasons ahead of time.

One of the ideas I thought would be cool is before Optimus Prime leaves Cybertron, have a scene where he gives command of the planet to Ultra Magnus. Throw in some other things here and there, but keep to the original plot more or less.

I just want something with writing as good as Beast Wars with decent mechanical designs Transformers Animated just looks horrid no matter how good the story may or may not be.

I was actually talking about the Transformers movies and Generation 1 Transformers.

While no official announcements have been made regarding what programming will turn up on The Hub, this is likely to be the case. Several popular Hasbro properties are expected to get new series on the new network.

I haven't watched a Transformers series since Beast Machines ended...I would love to see a continuation of that world. Beast Wars is by far my favorite out side of G1 Season One and Two.

Re: New Transformers Series?

the upcoming video game "Transformers The War for Cybertron"
The trailer TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON EXTENDED TRAILER
is very well done. It reminds me of the

Star Wars: The Old Republic Trailer
which is extremely well done and the CGI is state of the art.
In a similar vein if Star Wars The Clone Wars can have a TV series why can't Transformers that's aimed at 13-25 year olds? not rated TVPG but TV14 on SyFy or Cartoon Network.
Sure a series doesn't have to look just like the above trailers but it could work and SW:TCW looks pretty good visually for a series done on a budget.
When an animated TV series is done these days it's done in 1920x1080p "full HD" and that's blurring the line to a feature film [2048x1080 (2K)] as far as CGI render quality.

What do you guys think of a CGI Transformers TV series?

It was awesome. Code of Hero was just amazing.

After doing some Google searching are you referring to this?
"Beast Wars: Transformers" (1996) (TV series)

the episode 'Code of Hero', considered one of the best episodes in the history of the franchise.
...Beast Wars (which could plausibly be called the first Transformers series aimed at teenagers,...

Beast Wars, sort of the middle child of the Transformers cartoons, was and remains, one of the best animated series of the past twenty years, but I'll be the first to admit that it's an acquired taste.

It's pretty hard to compare CGI for a TV series to a modern day CGI done in HD for a TV series like "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" (2008) (TV series). The technology just has come so far with lighting, atmospheric effects (smoke, dust, haze, fog), textures as well as the use of motion capture.
